Here for sale we have a Westone Prestige 150 electric guitar in Ebony finish. Made in Japan in 1982, this guitar features a set-neck construction comprising a Mahogany body with carved Hard Maple top, Maple neck and 22 fret bound Rosewood fingerboard. This guitar is fitted with Chrome hardware including Tune-O-Matic style bridge and Westone tailpiece, as well as Westone sealed tuning machines. The pickups installed are a pair of Westone Super Twin 750 humbuckers, which are wired to a 3-way toggle switch, independent volume controls and independent 'PEQ' tone controls which allow you to run the humbuckers in parallel mode for a more single-coil-esque sound.

The Maple neck plays well, with a profile that might be described as a slim 'D' shape that sits comfortably in the hand and promotes ergonomic thumb positioning for both chord and lead playing. The slenderness of the neck certainly does accommodate the more technical player, feeling nice and fast for solos and speedy playing. The Rosewood fingerboard is luxurious under the fingers, and nicely accentuated by the binding. The 12" radius offers a flat and consistent playing surface right the way up the register, with the set-neck and sculpted heel ensuring that access to the upper frets is unobstructed. At 9lbs, this guitar is reassuringly weighty on the shoulders, but the smooth lines and generous contours of the body enhance comfort when playing for extended periods of time.

The pair of Westone Super Twin 750 humbucking pickups deliver thick and full-bodied tones, well suited to blues, rock and even metal genres. The neck pickup offers plenty of clarity and bell-like chime for clean sounds whilst providing a nicely broad and punchy tone for solos and lead lines. The bridge pickup is brighter and delivers a high output that will drive your amp into a beautifully saturated harmonic distortion, pushing your rock rhythm lines right to the front of the mix. The 'PEQ' tone controls are an interesting retro feature, with a notch in the middle that allows you to roll the pickup into parallel mode for a thinner single-coil style sound, whilst still functioning as a traditional tone control on the other side of the notch.

Aesthetic Condition:

Headstock: Overall very good condition. Light scratching to the front and rear faces is visible under direct light, as is common with high gloss finishes. Light denting and chipping to the finish is present to the top and bass side edges, most notably to the top rear edge where the wood is lightly exposed.

Neck: Overall very good condition. Light scratching to all surfaces is visible under direct light, as is common with high gloss finishes. The rear of the neck shows light denting and chipping, most notably to the treble side. These cannot be felt in the playing position and do not impact the playability of the instrument. Light denting is present to the 2nd fret of the fingerboard, consistent with mild playwear for an instrument of this age. This can not be felt in the playing position.

Body: Overall very good condition. A mild dent is present to the centre of the lower bout below the bridge. Light scratching and denting to the front face is only visible under direct light from certain angles. Further scratching and denting which is more noticeable is present around the edges and the rear face. This is most notable to the centre, where scratching consistent with buckle rash is visible. The most noticeable denting is around the treble side edge of the lower bout.

Condition of Frets:

The frets show moderate signs of use, not affecting playability. Denting and flattening of the frets is noticeable to the lower register. There is moderate material remaining for any light fret work the new owner may wish to perform.
