Here for sale we have an Epiphone Emperor Hollow Body Electric Guitar in Gloss Natural finish. Made in Korea in 1989, this guitar predates the popular Joe Pass Signature Emperor. This guitar features a Spruce Top, Laminated Maple back and sides and a Maple neck topped with a 20 fret Rosewood fingerboard. Two Epiphone Humbuckers are featured on this guitar, these are wired to a 3-way pickup selector and independent volume and tone controls.
The Maple neck sits comfortably thin in the hand, offering a smooth and comfortable playing surface that promotes ergonomic thumb positioning up and down the neck. The 12" radius provides a comfortable playing surface, perfect for complex chords and single-note lines whilst feeling comfortable under the fingers. The single cutaway body design allows for unobstructed access to the higher register, completing a comfortable guitar that offers excellent playability for jazz and other clean styles of music.
The Epiphone humbuckers provide a warm and full-bodied tone that is ideal for jazz and other clean styles of music. They are responsive to picking dynamics, which allows for expressive playing. The independent volume and tone controls allow for a wide range of tonal options, offering comprehensive control of your sound right on the guitar. Aesthetic Condition:
Headstock: Overall very good condition, the top edge demonstrates mild discoloration common with instruments of this age. The front face demonstrates very light scratching visible only under direct lighting at certain angles.
Neck: Overall excellent condition, the binding demonstrates hairline cracking consistent with an instrument of this age. Very light markings can be identified to the fingerboard when closely scrutinized. These are difficult to discern from the grain.
Body: Overall very good condition, a small indentation is apparent to the treble side horn. The bottom edge demonstrates light scratching only visible under direct lighting at certain angles. The binding demonstrates hairline cracking consistent with an instrument of this age.
Condition of Frets:
The frets demonstrate light signs of use, not affecting playability. There is considerable material remaining for any fret work the new owner may wish to perform.
Current Set Up:
Truss Rod: Fully functional. Truss rod tool (5mm hex) not included.
Hardware: Fully functional with moderate signs of wear. The low E machinehead is missing a nylon washer which causes the button to wobble when not under string tension, but this still functions correctly.
Structural: No concerns or issues to note.
Height of the string from the 12th Fret-1.5mm - Bass 2mm
