Here for sale we have a Doug Wilkes Custom 27 in White and Black finish. Made in the United Kingdom circa.1970’s this guitar features a set-in construction Maple body, a Maple neck and a 27 Jumbo fret Ebony fingerboard. A Kahler Double Locking Tremolo is featured along with a set of Shaller sealed tuning machines. A pair of 80’s Dimarzio humbuckers are featured which are wired to a 3-way selector and a master volume control.

The Maple neck feels slim and comfortable in the hand, with the ‘V’ profile and gloss finish to the rear providing comfortable navigation and ergonomic thumb positioning up and down the neck. The 10" radius Ebony fingerboard provides a smooth playing surface, whilst also helping with bending and vibrato technique thanks to the Jumbo frets and offer a nice balance between comfortable chord playing and practicality for quick lead lines. The unique body design offers the player unobstructed access to the 27th fret whilst also providing comfort for both seated and standing playing positions.

Amplified, this guitar has a thick low end grunt and sculpted mid range thanks to its pair of  Dimarzio pickups. The DiMarzio humbucker in the bridge position delivers powerful but balanced rock and metal tones with rich upper-midrange harmonic content. The low strings are tight and the high strings scream with harmonics, making it a go-to pickup for hard-hitting crunch rhythms and blazing lead tones. The DiMarzio humbucker in the neck position offers all the soloing clarity you could wish for, with sweet sustain and a warm, full sound that still possesses a clear attack providing a hot output delivering smooth, fluid solo tones under gain, while still being capable of bell-like clean tones.
