Here for sale we have a Yamaha CG171S Classical Guitar in Gloss Natural finish. Made in Taiwan in 2006, this guitar features a set-neck construction comprising a Solid European Spruce top, Rosewood back & sides, Nato neck & 20 fret Rosewood fingerboard with matching bridge. The body is double-bound in black, whilst the top and back are adorned with handsome purfling, back strip & Rosette. A Urea saddle & nut are fitted, along with a set of Gold Yamaha YTM-06 tuners.
The Nato neck plays very well, with a profile that feels traditional for a classical guitar, and could perhaps be described as a 'D' shape. With a slightly flattened area to the centre rear, the profile encourages ergonomic thumb positioning in all registers. The flat fingebroard radius & nit width of 2.05" is again traditional for a classical and provides a playing expeirence which is both practical & authentic. The smooth lines of the body are comfortable in the arms, reducing fatigue in those long practice sessions.
The voice of the Yamaha CG171S is soft & gentle, just as we expect from a classical guitar. There is plenty of balance across the frequency range, perfect for both chordal & melodic playing. The Solid European Spruce top projects well and provides a wide & sensitive dynamic range. The Rosewood of the back & sides adds depth & character to the sound, with warmth and clarity across the frequency range.
