Here for sale we have a Suhr Pete Thorn Signature Left-Handed Electric Guitar in Ocean Turquoise Metallic finish. Made in the USA, this guitar is a collaboration between prolific session and touring guitarist Thorn and the fantastic luthiers at Suhr. Known for his solo work and playing alongside legendary artists such as Don Henley, Chris Cornell and Melissa Etheridge among many others, this instrument needed to meet the needs of a swiss-army-knife guitarist and be practical for a wide range of genres and styles.
This instrument features a bolt-on construction comprising a Chambered Mahogany body with a Plain Maple top, Mahogany neck and 22 fret Indian Rosewood fingerboard. Chrome hardware is fitted, including a 2-point Wilkinson WVS130 Locking Saddle Tremolo bridge and Suhr sealed locking tuners. A pair of Pete Thorn signature Suhr humbucking pickups are installed, with a Thornbucker in the neck and Thornbucker + in the bridge. These are wired to a 5-way blade switch, master volume and master tone controls, with a push/pull bridge series/parallel function on the tone control.
The Mahogany neck plays astonishingly well, with the 'Even 'C' Slim' profile filling the hand nicely for a substantial grip whilst remaining slim enough for fast and articulate playing. Certainly, the neck feels supremely comfortable and practical in all registers, whilst the Satin finish to the rear ensures that navigation of the 25.5" scale is an absolute breeze. The Indian Rosewood fingerboard is luxurious under the fingers, and with a 10"-14" compound radius is tailored to the needs of the player at all times. It's rounder in the lower register for chord playing and transitions smoothly to a flatter surface as you climb the neck, perfect for solos and lead lines. The Jumbo Stainless Steel frets enhance the feel of vibrato and string bending techniques whilst also being more durable than traditional Nickel frets.
The pair of Pete Thorn signature Suhr humbucking pickups installed in this guitar deliver thick and full-bodied tones akin to a PAF type humbucker, but with a dash of modern refinement for the contemporary guitarist. The Thornbucker in the neck is warm and round whilst being extraordinarily well-balanced. It offers anything from crystal clean, shimmery clean sounds through to full-throttle distortion tones, with all of the power required to drive your solos to the front of the mix. The Thornbucker + in the bridge position is overwound for a higher output and can handle all of the gain that you could possibly need, saturating into a searing distortion tone when needed and offering a bright, glassy clean sound with subtler amp settings. The 5-way switching and push/pull pot offer an absolute plethora of sonic options, meaning this guitar is ready for wherever the gig takes you.
