Here for sale we have a Squier Mikey Way Mustang Electric Bass in Large Flake Silver Sparkle finish with Racing Stripe. Made in Indonesia in 2013, the My Chemical Romance's bass player's signature bass consists of a Basswood body, a Maple neck, and a 19-fret Rosewood fingerboard. Other appointments include a Strings-Thru-Body bridge with 4 Individually Adjustable Saddles, Vintage-Style Open-Gear tuners, and a covered passive humbucking pickup. This pickup is wired to a master volume, and a master tone control.
 
The 'C' shape neck plays well, feeling slender in the hand and providing a smooth playing surface with its gloss finish. The short scale makes the neck feel sharp and easy to navigate, and lends itself well to players with smaller hands or guitarists moonlighting as bass players. The smooth lines of the Mustang body feel comfortable in the arms and are well suited to playing in either standing or seated positions.
 
The single humbucking pickup keeps things simple, but provides a great fundamental bass tone that's apparent the moment you plug in. There is a fast and responsive attack that means it's easy to keep things rhythmically tight, whilst also providing a deep and rich low end to fill out the mix. The minimal controls mean that you can focus on playing whilst still offering tone shaping capabilities.

    Aesthetic Condition:

    Headstock: Overall good condition. A moderate chip to the finish is apparent to the top of the front face, this has exposed the wood beneath. A milder chip to the finish can be seen to the treble side edge near the Squier logo, this also has revealed the wood beneath. The edges of the headstock display light to mild indentations, the most apparent of these can be seen to the tip where light paint transfer is also present.

    Neck: Overall very good condition. Light indentations are scattered across the rear of the neck, the most prominent of these can be felt in the early register. Mild discoloration can be seen to the rear of the neck either side of the nut, this is common with Maple finished necks and regular past use.

    Body: Overall very good condition. A light finish crack can be seen and fit under the finger to the bass side of the neck pocket, this has been tested and presents no structural concerns. A previous owner routed the body to fit P-style pickups in, this has been done to a satisfactory standard and can only be seen when removing the pick guard. Any other markings to the body are difficult to discern.

     

    Condition of Frets:

    The frets demonstrate light signs of use, not affecting playability.  There is moderate material remaining for any fret work the new owner may wish to perform.

     

    Current Set Up:

    Truss Rod: Fully functional. Truss rod tool (4mm hex) not included.

    Hardware: Overall very good condition. All aspects of the metal hardware display light to mild signs of tarnishing and oxidation, this is consistent with regular past use. Scratching is present to the pick guard which can be seen under direct light.

    Structural: No concerns or issues to note.

    Height of the string from the 12th Fret-2mm - Bass 2.25mm
