Here for sale we have a Shergold Provocateur SP02-SD in Thru-Black finish. Shergold Guitars were a popular British brand in the '70s, borne out of the Hayman and Burns brands among others. The brand was revived in 2017 by Barnes & Mullins who were the UK distributors of the original Shergold guitars. The original '70s instruments were re-designed in the UK by Patrick James Eggle, updating them with modern features for the contemporary guitarist. 
 
Made in Indonesia in 2019, this guitar features a bolt-on construction comprising a Mahogany body, Torrefied Mahogany neck and 22 fret Ebony fingerboard, hand inlaid with Aluminium Line fret markers. Chrome hardware is fitted including a PJE Design Shergold Custom T bridge and Staggered Locking tuning machines. A pair of passive Seymour Duncan '59 humbucking pickups are installed, and are wired to a 3-way toggle switch, master volume and master tone controls, with a push/pull coil split function on the tone. 
 
The Torrefied Mahogany neck plays very well, feeling exceptionally luxurious in the hand thanks to its deep rich colour and grain, as well as the hand-burnished finish to the rear. The profile might be described as a slim 'C' shape, which fills the hand comfortably for a substantial grip whilst remaining slim enough for fast articulate playing. The Ebony fingerboard is pleasant under the fingers, and with its 12" radius and medium jumbo frets is practical for a wide range of styles and techniques. The linear Aluminium inlays and side markers are a nice touch which make this instrument feel particularly unique. 
 
Amplified, the pair of passive Seymour Duncan '59 humbuckers deliver a thick and full-bodied sound, perfect for anything from crunchy blues & rock to heavy metal. The neck position is round and powerful, pushing your lead lines and solos to the front of the mix with ease. The bridge is of course brighter, and is well suited to rock rhythm parts and riffs. The controls are comprehensive without being intrusive to the playing experience, and with the addition of a coil split function there are also single-coil style sounds available. A well equipped instrument which will stand out from the crowd.
