Here for sale we have a Sandberg California JM4 electric bass in Cherry Burst finish. Built in Germany in 2009, this bass features a bolt-on construction comprising an Alder body, Satin finished Maple neck topped with a 22 fret Rosewood fingerboard. The hardware featured on this bass consists of a Sandberg top-loading bridge and a set of Split-post open gear tuning machines. A pair of Delano pickups are featured with a Delano MM in the bridge position and a Delano J-Style in the middle, these are wired to a Master Volume w/ push/pull active/passive, pan, bass, treble and a coil switch.
The Maple neck sits comfortably in the hand, with the ‘C’ profile allowing for comfortable reach in all registers and promoting ergonomic thumb positioning, whilst the Satin finish has been played to a soft Gloss finish and is fantastic for smooth, quick transitions up and down the neck. The Rosewood fingerboard feels pleasant under the fingers, whilst the 14” radius allows for ease of different techniques such as slap bass or chordal playing. The double cutaway and contoured body design allows the player to have unobstructed access to the entire register, whilst also making longer durations of playing a comfortable experience.
The pair of Delano pickups deliver classic style tones and power, with smooth rounded lows, clear and open mid range and a sweet treble response that captures the attack and aggression of your playing. The active/passive push/pull control allows the user to switch between battery or passive output. This produces a crisp tone with more dynamic response on the active side, whereas the passive side is softer and reacts more to the player’s touch.This bass is capable of a wide range of tones thanks to the controls that are featured, the pan control allows for both pickups to work together to produce a punchier, thicker sound and separate EQ’s allow the user a wide palette to explore.

Aesthetic Condition:
Overall very good condition. Light indentations are scattered around the edges of the headstock, the most apparent of these can be seen to the treble side tip where the lacquer finish has lightly chipped away.
Overall excellent condition. Very light indentations are present across the register to the rear of the neck, these can only be seen under very close scrutiny under direct light and can not be felt in the playing position.
Overall very good condition. Light chipping of the finish is apparent to the treble side lower bout and near the input jack, these have exposed the wood beneath. All aspects of the body display light scratching, the most noticeable of these can be seen to the front face, bass side shoulder and to the bass side shoulder rear of the body. All scratching can be seen under direct light, common with gloss finishes.
Condition of Frets:
The frets demonstrate mild signs of use, not affecting playability. Denting and flattening of the frets is apparent throughout the register. There is moderate material remaining for any fret work the new owner may wish to perform.
Current Set Up:
Truss Rod: Fully functional. Truss rod tool (4mm hex) not included.
Hardware: Overall very good condition. The control plate displays light scratching which can be seen under direct light, consistent with past use. Light oxidation can be seen to the pickup magnets, with this the logo on the pickup bobbins has slightly worn away from past use.
Structural: No concerns or issues to note.
