Here for sale we have a PRS Swamp Ash Special in 3-Tone Sunburst finish. Made in the USA in 1999, this guitar features a bolt-on construction comprising a Swamp Ash body, Flamed Maple neck and 22 fret Flamed Maple fingerboard. Chrome hardware is fitted, including a PRS Vintage-Style 6-point tremolo bridge and PRS locking tuning machines. A pair of PRS McCarty humbucking pickups are fitted in the neck and bridge positions, along with a Seymour Duncan Vintage Rails stacked humbucker in the middle. These are wired to a 3-way toggle switch, master volume and master tone controls, with a push/pull function which engages the middle pickup. 
 
The Flamed Maple neck plays very well, with the Wide Fat profile filling the hand nicely for a substantial yet articulate grip. The profile might be described as a 'C' shape, which provides comfort and easy playability in all registers. The Flamed Maple fingerboard is very attractive, adding a real sense of luxury to the playing experience whilst offering a smooth and consistent playing surface. The dual cutaways and traditional PRS sculpted lower horn enhance access to the upper frets, opening up the full register of the instrument. 
 
The trio of pickups installed in this guitar deliver a versatile range of tones, with the PRS McCarty humbuckers sounding thick and full-bodied whilst the Seymour Duncan Vintage Rails in the middle position provides more single-coil-esque sounds. The neck position is warm and round, with all of the power required to blast your solo tones to the front of the mix. The bridge is brighter and hotter, placing your rock rhythm sounds front and centre. Engaging the Vintage Rails in the middle position brings in a subtler sound, well suited to chiming clean sounds.
