Here for sale we have a modified PRS Limited Edition S2 Studio Satin in Charcoal finish. Made in the USA in 2020, this guitar features a set-neck construction comprising a Mahogany body with offset bevel-carved top, Mahogany neck and 22 fret Rosewood fingerboard. Chrome hardware is fitted including a PRS vintage-style 6-point tremolo bridge, & sealed tuning machines. A trio of PRS passive pickups are installed in an HSS configuration, with a Starla humbucker in the bridge and a pair of Type-D single-coils in the neck & middle positions. These are wired to a 5-way blade switch, master volume and master tone controls, with a push/pull coil split function for the bridge pickup. A previous owner has added a Piezo pickup, with what appears to be a Graphtech GHOST system installed. This pickup is wired directly to an additional output.
The Mahogany neck plays very well. It's 'Pattern Regular' profile fills the hand nicely and feels substantial without being at all cumbersome. This promotes ergonomic thumb positioning, and makes for comfortable playability in all registers. The open-pore finish to the rear of the neck is tactile and pleasant to the touch, and assists with smooth navigation of the 25" scale. The Rosewood fingerboard has a similar open-pore finish, and provides a smooth and durable playing surface. It's 10" radius strikes a perfect balance between vintage-feel and modern practicality for lead lines and string bending techniques, whilst the double cutaway body design and signature PRS sculpted lower horn open up the full range of the 22 fret fingerboard.
The trio of PRS passive pickups installed in this guitar deliver a very versatile range of tones. The HSS configuration is often used by players who require a wide range of sounds on their main instrument, and this PRS S2 Studio delivers on that front in spades. The bridge pickup is plenty hot enough to drive your amp into a saturated distortion, whilst the neck and middle pickups offer plenty of power and grit for lead tones, or can clean up nicely for anything from smooth glassy sounds or mid-heavy funk tones. With the push/pull tone control allowing you to split the humbucker, there's isn't much ground this guitar won't cover from standard. With the addition of a piezo pickup, this particular example has been turned into a super-versatile swiss army knife instrument, perfect for the gigging musician or session player.

Aesthetic Condition:
Headstock: Overall very good condition. The top corners demonstrate scuffing and indentation, wearing through the finish and revealing the wood beneath at the bass side rear point. Lighter indentation that does not pierce the finish can be identified around the perimeter.
Neck: Overall very good condition. The rear of the neck demonstrates notable finish wear which reveals the wood behind frets 3-7. Further light indentation can be identified throughout the register. The satin finish has worn to a gloss throughout the register, consistent with playwear. The fingerboard demonstrates light playwear throughout, difficult to discern against the natural grain.
Body: Overall good condition. Several high-contact areas of the body have worn to a gloss, consistent with playwear. This is most apparent at the bass side of the lower bout and beside the controls. Further similar wear is present across the rear face. Notable buckle rash is apparent to the rear, revealing the wood beneath. All aspects of the body demonstrate consistent scratching and indentation, sometimes revealing the wood beneath. This is most apparent along the treble side edges.
Condition of Frets:
The frets demonstrate moderate signs of use, not affecting playability. There is moderate material remaining for future fret work.
Current Set Up:
Truss Rod: Fully functional. Truss rod tool (5/16" socket) not included.
Hardware: Fully functional with moderate signs of wear, most notably oxidation of the bridge & pickup pole pieces The saddles have been replaced with a set of Graphtech GHOST saddles as part of the addition of the Piezo pickup.
Structural: No concerns or issues to note.
Height of the string from the 12th Fret-1.5mm - Bass 2mm
