PRS Custom 22 Stoptail Vintage Yellow 1998 Electric Guitar
Here for sale we have a PRS Custom 22 Stoptail Electric Guitar in Vintage Yellow finish. Made in the USA in 1998, this guitar features a set-neck construction comprising a Mahogany body with Carved Flamed Maple top, Mahogany neck and 22 fret Rosewood fingerboard. Chrome/Nickel hardware is equipped, including a compensated wraptail bridge and PRS Locking tuning machines. The pickups installed are a pair of passive PRS Dragon II humbuckers, which are wired to a 5-way rotary switch, master volume and master tone controls. 
 
The Mahogany neck plays very well, with the 'Wide Fat' profile providing a characterful and vintage-inspired playing experience in all registers without being at all cumbersome. The Gloss finish to the rear assists with smooth and speedy navigation of the 25" scale, whilst the double cutaway body design with the customary PRS sculpted lower horn ensures uninhibited access to the upper frets. The Rosewood fingerboard is pleasant under the fingers, and with Abalone/MoP 'Moons’ inlays adds a sense of class & luxury to the playing experience. The 10" radius strikes a perfect balance between comfortable chord playing and practicality for lead lines and string bending techniques. 
 
The pair of PRS Dragon II humbucking pickups installed in this guitar are clear, articulate and bold sounding. These medium output humbuckers deliver a refined vintage-style tone that will sit well within a wide range of genres and musical situations. Wired to a 5-way rotary pickup selector, there are a vast array of tones close to hand. Split coil sounds are available in the in-between positions (2 and 4) and your usual humbucking options in positions 1, 3 and 5. Whether you’re after jazzy cleans, bluesy mid-gain or roaring heavy tones, the PRS Custom 22 does it all in style with a truly stunning Flamed Maple top and Vintage Yellow Sunburst finish.

    Aesthetic Condition:

    Headstock: Overall very good condition. The tip of the headstock demonstrates some light indentation, one of these piercing the finish. Some glue residue is apparent around the "Paul" of the logo, likely from reattaching the decal. All aspects of the headstock demonstrate light scratching visible only under direct lighting at certain angles.

     

    Neck: Overall very good condition. The rear of the neck demonstrates light scratching throughout the register which is visible only under direct lighting at certain angles and is very difficult to discern beneath the thumb. More moderate scratching can be identified to the bass side of the profile beside the 11th-17th frets, which dulls the finish slightly.

     

    Body: Overall very good condition. The front face demonstrates consistent light scratching between the pickups and the treble side waist, causing a slight hazing of the finish under direct lighting at certain angles. Light indentation that pierces the finish slightly can be identified beside the controls. Further similar light indentation can be identified to a lesser degree at the bass side of the bridge and bass side shoulder. The sides demonstrate light scuffing and scratching, most consistently on the bottom edge. This does not pierce the finish. light scratching and indentation is apparent to the rear face under direct lighting at certain angles, consistent with buckle rash. 

     

    Condition of Frets:

    This guitar has had a fret level and re-crown in-house to ensure improved playability. There is moderate material remaining for future fret work.

     

    Current Set Up:

    Truss Rod: Fully functional. Truss rod tool (5/16" socket) included.

    Hardware: Very good condition with light tarnishing of the bridge and pickup covers. 

    Structural: No concerns or issues to note.

    Height of the string from the 12th Fret-1.25mm - Bass 1.75mm

    The case demonstrates moderate signs of use, with stickers to the exterior and oxidation of latches and corners. The interior latch to secure the lid of the pocket has been removed. The pocket still closes and secures with the remaining latch without issue. Warranty card, tuner/bridge manual, truss rod & bridge adjustment tools included in the case.
