Here for sale we have a PJD Carey Standard F-Hole semi-hollow electric guitar in Natural finish. PJD guitars was founded in 2010 by Leigh Dovey, the son of a prop maker for the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden. Using the woodworking skills learned from his father as well as the inherited tools & small home workshop, Leigh has forged a new boutique guitar company which has been making waves in the community for many years now. With craftsmanship and quality of materials at the centre of PJD's ethos, Leigh's interesting and exciting designs have found their way into the hands of today's most innovative contemporary players, from Blur's Graham Coxon to Lee Malia of Bring Me The Horizon & many others between. 
 
Made in the York workshop in 2022, this guitar features a bolt-on construction comprising an Ash body, Roasted Maple neck and 22 fret Roasted Maple fingerboard. Aged Nickel hardware is fitted including a string-thru-body bridge with block saddles & vintage-style split-post tuning machines. A pair of PJD pickups are installed, with 'The Duke' P-90 in the neck position & an 'Eliminator' humbucker in the bridge position. these are wired to a 3-way toggle switch, master volume & master tone controls.
 
The Roasted Maple neck feels supremely comfortable in the hand, with a smooth finish which assist with navigation of the 25.5" scale. The fingerboard features a compound radius, beginning with 10" in the lower register and transitioning smoothly to 12" as you climb the neck. This ensures that the playing experience is tailored to the needs of the player in all registers; comfortable for chord playing and rhythm parts in the lower frets and nicely flat and smooth for lead lines in the upper register. The smooth lines of the body are comfortable in the arms, and with the semi-hollow construction, long playing sessions are fatigue free. 
 
Amplified, the Carey Standard F-Hole delivers a wide range of sonic options, perfect for the modern contemporary player. The P-90 in the neck is warm and round- great for lead lines and soloing. With more aggressive amp settings however, there is plenty of growl & grunt from this pickup. It matches the brightness & snappy attack of the bridge humbucker nicely, and indeed in the middle position there is a nicely balanced, thick tone which works well with both clean and overdriven sounds. The semi-hollow construction of the instrument ensures that there is plenty of dynamic range to play with, making the guitar feel nicely responsive in the hands. A great example of PJD at their best.
