Here for sale we have a Martin DC-28 in natural finish. Made in the US in 2015 this guitar features a set-neck construction consisting of Rosewood back and sides with a Spruce top, Mahogany neck and 20 Rosewood fingerboard. Other appointments include a Rosewood bridge, Martin sealed tuner and a venetian cutaway. This guitar features a Fishman Eclipse Aura pickup system with soundhole mounted controls for Volume, Phase, Blend, Anti-Feedback and Sound Image.
 
The Mahogany neck plays very well, with the “Modified Low Oval” profile filling the hand nicely for a confidence-inspiring grip when chord playing, yet remaining slim enough for articulate melodic lines. The Rosewood of the fingerboard is pleasant under the fingers, and with its traditional 16" radius provides a smooth and responsive playing experience across the register, suitable for a wide range of styles and techniques. 
 
The acoustic voice of the Martin DC-28 is bright and well balanced. The dreadnought body design delivers plenty of volume and a strong bass response. The Rosewood back and sides provide a silky smooth bass response that remains detailed and accurate across the dynamic range. The mids are punchy and clear, and add a warmth and clarity to the tone. The top end is sparkly and bright, adding a glistening quality to every note played on the instrument.  The on-board preamp provides the versatility required for live and recording situations, meaning this guitar is ready for wherever the gig takes you.

    Aesthetic Condition:

    Headstock: Overall good condition, the top and rear edges demonstrate very consistent indentations, most notably towards the top edge of the rear face. Some of these chip the finish, revealing the wood beneath. Further lighter indentation and scratching can be identified throughout the headstock.

    Neck: Overall fair condition, the fingerboard demonstrates notable playwear in the early to middle register, leaving indentations that can be felt beneath the finger. The rear of the neck demonstrates chipping of the finish in the early to mid register which is discernible beneath the thumb. Further indentation is apparent throughout the register. The finish to the rear of the neck has clouded in places.

    Body: Overall good condition, the front face demonstrates notable chipping on the bass side edge of the lower bout, revealing the wood beneath. A moderate scratch is apparent to the treble side cutaway running down to the soundhole. All aspects of the body demonstrate consistent scratching, scuffing and indentation, particularly across the lower bout on the front face.

     

    Condition of Frets:

    The frets demonstrate notable signs of use in the early register, improving beyond the 5th fret. There is only a small amount of material remaining for future fret work.

     

    Current Set Up:

    Truss Rod: Fully functional. Truss rod tool (5mm hex) not included.

    Hardware: Fully functional with light signs of use.

    Structural: The neck angle on this instrument is not correct, meaning the action is raised with a low saddle. A neck reset would be required to return this instrument to ideal parameters. Both bottom corners of the bridge are lifting slightly.

     

    Height of the string from the 12th Fret-2.25mm - Bass 3mm

     

    Please be aware that the action on a guitar may move slightly in transit and this measurement is the current height.

    There is no room remaining in the saddle for further adjustments.

     

    Though this instrument demonstrates a lengthy report detailing it's condition, it is worth remarking it maintains the classic "Martin Dreadnought" sound and performs well. The price has been lowered in accordance with the work required to return to ideal parameters.

     

    Electrics: 

    The pickup has an uneven output across strings. When adjusting volume slider, signal can be intermittent.
