Here for sale we have a beautiful Martin Custom Shop 000-18 12 Fret acoustic guitar in Gloss Natural finish. Made in the Martin Custom Shop in 216, this guitar features and all-solid Mahogany Block Dovetail construction comprising a Sitka Spruce top, Mahogany back & sides, Mahogany neck and 20 fret Black Ebony fingerboard with matching bridge. The body is double bound in Faux Tortoiseshell, matching the pickguard which adorns the top alongside the 'Old Style 18' purfling & rosette. The fingerboard is inlaid with Abalone dots, whilst the slotted headstock is topped with an East Indian Rosewood headplate & 'Old Style Gold Small' Martin logo. A Bone saddle & nut are fitted, along with a set of 'Golden Age 2514' Relic Nickel tuning machines with cream buttons.
The Mahogany neck plays very well, with the Modified Low Oval w/PA Taper profile feeling rather slim and very comfortable in the hand, allowing for effortless reach across the fretboard. The Ebony fingerboard is supremely pleasant under the fingers, and along with the Abalone inlays adds a real sense of luxury to the playing experience. The traditional 16" radius ensures a perfect balance between comfortable chord playing and practicality for fingerstyle and lead lines. The 000 body size sits very comfortably in the arms whilst providing a lively, resonant yet intimate playing experience that is very rewarding and inspiring.
The voice of the Martin 000-18 12 Fret is nothing short of exquisite. Sitting comfortably between a Parlor and Dreadnought, the 000 body size is renowned for being supremely well-balanced. Lows are rich yet understated, the mid range is clear and the highs are bright and glistening. This all adds up to a beautiful and unmistakable tone that is equally at home as a solo instrument or as part of an ensemble. The all-solid construction ensures a beautiful resonance which delivers a wide and sensitive dynamic range, encompassing both elegant intricate passages and powerful chordal sections. An excellent example of Martin's finest work.

Aesthetic Condition:
Headstock: Overall excellent condition. A light indentation is present at the bass side rear edge, near the 6th E tuner. Any other markings to the headstock are difficult to discern.
Neck: Overall very good condition. Light playwear is apparent to the fingerboard throughout the register which cannot be discerned beneath the finger. Very light scratching is present to the rear of the neck throughout the register. This is very lightly felt beneath the thumb in the early register but does not impact the playability of the instrument. The satin finish to the rear of the neck has worn to a light gloss, consistent with playwear.
Body: Overall excellent condition. Very light finish cracks are present to the top, emanating from either side of the bridge. These have been tested and present no structural concern. A light patch of finish ‘dulling’ is present to the centre of the rear face, consistent with contact with a stand. All aspects of the body demonstrate infrequent very light scratching visible only under direct lighting at certain angles. This is most notable to the centre of the rear face consistent with playwear.
Condition of Frets:
A partial level and recrown has been performed beyond the 12th fret to ensure the best possible playability. The lower frets demonstrate light signs of use. There is considerable material remaining for future fret work.
Current Set Up:
Truss Rod: Fully functional. Truss rod tool (5mm hex) not included.
Hardware: Excellent condition. The pickguard shows light scratching consistent with playwear.
Structural: The neck is slightly under-set, causing some fret noise beyond fret 12. We have performed a partial level and re-crown to resolve this, and the playable register up to the 12th fret performs without issue.
