This guitar is for UK buyers only due to Brazilian Rosewood Cites.

Here for sale we have a Kinkade Kingsdown Electro-Acoustic guitar in Satin Natural finish. Hand built in 1987 by luthier Simon Kinkade in Bristol England, this guitar features a set neck construction comprising of a Spruce top, Mahogany back and sides along with a Mahogany neck, 20-fret Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard and bridge shows the care and attention that has been lavished into this excellent instrument. Featured on this guitar is a set of Schaller sealed tuning machines, whilst a Bone nut and a Tusq saddle have been installed along with an aftermarket passive piezo pickup.

The Mahogany ‘D’ profile neck sits comfortably in the hand, and with its Satin/Gloss finish provides a smooth and comforting surface to navigate, with a ‘well used’ feeling. The 12” radius and 1.760” nut width allow for easy fretting in any register, whilst lending itself to chordal playing and finger picking styles in any register, and with the Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard adds a luxurious surface under the fingers. The ‘OM’ body shape feels comfortable in the arms providing a connected feeling when playing, whilst the smooth lines of the body ensure this instrument is comfortable and practical to play in seated or standing positions.

The all solid construction allows the tonewoods to resonate clearly, the Mahogany back and sides provide a rich and warm voicing with an impeccable low end and midrange. The Spruce top and Sitka Spruce X-Bracing ensures increased bass response, whilst complementing the Spruce offering a dynamic tonal palette. With various pick and finger playing styles the voice of the Kingsdown can be soft and subtle as well as being loud standing front and centre, offering a guitar that can inspire both the player and the listener. The aftermarket passive piezo pickup accurately captures the voice of the instrument, adding versatility for both live and recording situations.

    Aesthetic Condition:

Overall good condition, the front face demonstrates some finish delamination beside the nut, particularly on the treble side. The sides and edges demonstrate consistent scuffing and indentation, most notably the top edge where indentation causes chipping and delamination of the finish. The corners of the headstock demonstrate chipping of the finish revealing the wood beneath. These markings continue on to the top of the rear face. All aspects of the headstock demonstrate light scratching visible only under direct lighting at certain angles.

Overall good condition, the fingerboard demonstrates playwear in the early register which cannot be felt beneath the string. The rear of the neck demonstrates scratching, indentation and some small chips to the finish throughout the register, some of these causing some slight delamination of the finish. These can be felt beneath the thumb in playing position.

Overall good condition, the finish across the entire body demonstrates hazing and blushing in various places, most notably surrounding the heel and to the treble side shoulder of the front face. The treble side of the instrument has had a repaired crack, which has been repaired to an acceptable standard and does not pose any further concern. All aspects of the body demonstrate moderate scratching, scuffing, indentation and the occasional chip to the finish. We recommend viewing the photographs provided closely for a better understanding of the cosmetic condition of this instrument.

    Condition of Frets:

The frets demonstrate moderate signs of use, not affecting playability. There is a small amount of material remaining for future fret work.

    Current Set Up:

Truss Rod: Fully functional. Truss rod tool (5/16" socket) not included.

Hardware: Fully functional with light signs of wear.

Structural: No concerns or issues to note.

    Strings on Guitar - 11-52

Height of string from 12th Fret- Treble 1.5mm - Bass 2.5mm

Please be aware that the action on a guitar may move slightly in transit and this measurement is the current height.

Though this guitar demonstrates a previous repair to the side and cosmetic issues, it is worth remarking that the structural condition and the angle between neck and body is exceptional for a guitar of this age. There is considerable material left in the saddle and absolutely zero indication that a neck reset will be required for many years to come.

    Electrics:

Fully functional. Aftermarket passive piezo pickup fitted.

    Case & Accessories:

    Hard case

The case demonstrates notable signs of use, with stickers and tearing to the exterior tolex, the interior felt is very worn and one latch is missing. The case still functions and protects the guitar well.
