Here for sale we have an Italia Rimini Twin Double Neck 6/12 semi-hollow electric guitar in Pearloid finish. Made in Korea, this guitar comes from South Korean manufacturer Italia. The company was founded in 1998 with a line of guitars designed by Trevor Wilkinson. Wilkinson's name is still found on the guitars today, and they still make use of his hardware. Italia instruments are primarily based on popular designs from the '50s & '60s, capturing the spirit of arguably the most innovative period in the guitar's history.
 
This Rimini Twin double neck 6/12 features a set-neck construction comprising A chambered Alder body with Ash back, two Hardrock Maple necks and two 22 fret Rosewood fingerboards. Chrome hardware is fitted including Wilkinson TOM bridges, Italia trapeze tailpieces & Italia tuning machines. Each neck features a pair of Wilkinson WMH mini humbuckers which are wired to a 3-way toggle switch which selects the 6/12 neck, 3-way toggle switch which selects the pickup on each neck and a master volume & tone control. 
 
Both of the Hardrock Maple necks play very well. The profile for both are similar, feeling somewhat like a 'D' shape with a slightly flattened area o the centre rear. The 12 string neck is of course slightly wider to allow for accurate fretting of the extra strings. The 6 string neck is equally practical, with the slightly narrower nut width providing easy reach across the register. The Rosewood of both fretboards is pleasant under the fingers, with a smooth 14" radius and what appear to be medium jumbo frets delivering a consistent and durable playing surface in all positions. The guitar is well balanced in both seated & standing positions whilst providing easy access to both necks.
 
Amplified, the semi-hollow construction helps to provide an open and airy tone, well suited to the '60s musical styles that the instrument's aesthetics evoke. The 12 string sounds nice and jangly, whilst there is plenty of body and low end to the 6 string neck. The mini humbuckers deliver a round, warm sound in the neck position and bright chiming tone from the bridge. The 3-way 6/12 selector allows you to engage both necks at once in the middle position for quick and easy changes during a song, although you have to be careful to mute the other strings to avoid noise from the semi-hollow body's resonance. A unique & very striking instrument which is surprisingly practical.
