Here for sale we have an Ibanez RG550 electric guitar in black finish. Made in Japan in 2001, this guitar features a bolt-on construction comprising a Basswood body, 3-piece Maple/Bubinga neck and 24 fret Maple fingerboard. This guitar is fitted with 'Powder Cosmo' finished hardware including an Edge tremolo system, Top-Lok III nut and Gotoh SG381 sealed tuning machines. A trio of Ibanez pickups are installed in an HSH configuration, with a V8 in the bridge, S1 in the middle and V7 in the neck. These are wired to a 5-way blade switch, master volume and master tone controls.
The 3-Piece Maple/Bubinga neck plays exceptionally well, with the Super Wizard profile feeling nicely slender and articulate in the hand. A flattened area to the centre of the neck promotes ergonomic thumb positioning in all registers and helps to facilitate fast, technical playing. The Maple fingerboard is pleasant under the fingers, and with it's 17" radius provides a nicely flat and consistent playing surface right the way up the fretboard. This is paired with 24 Jumbo frets, ensuring a razor sharp playing experience in all registers. The sculpted neck heel and generous cutaways enhance access to the upper frets, opening up the full range of the instrument.
The trio of Ibanez pickups installed in this guitar deliver a wide array of sounds, with the best of humbucking and single-coil tones on offer. The neck pickup is bold and warm, providing all of the clarity needed for your solo tones whilst remaining bright enough for chording and articulate rhythm parts. The V8 in the bridge is hotter, delivering a full-bodied and saturated harmonic distortion for your lead tones when driving the amp. The S1 in the middle position has a high output for a single-coil, meaning that it blends well with the neck and bridge pickups. The 5-way blade switch provides split coil sounds, whilst the responsive volume and tone controls ensure you're always in full control of your tone.

Aesthetic Condition:
Headstock: Overall good condition, the tip of the headstock demonstrates consistent indentation and scuffing, causing chipping of the finish and some discoloration. Further chipping and indentation can be identified around the perimeter of the headstock. All aspects of the headstock demonstrate consistent indentation and scratching, some of this apparent immediately whilst others require direct lighting at certain angles.
Neck: Overall good condition, the fingerboard edges and edges of the neck profile demonstrate considerable finish wear, with discoloration apparent throughout the register. The fingerboard demonstrates consistent scratching throughout. The rear of the neck demonstrates light to moderate indentations which can be somewhat discerned beneath the thumb. The finish to the rear of the neck has buffed to high gloss through regular use.
Body: Overall good condition, all aspects of the body demonstrate consistent scratching and indentation, piercing the finish in several places. The rear bass side edge demonstrates chipping of the finish revealing the wood beneath. Both corners of the neck pocket demonstrate light finish cracking, not affecting the structural stability. For a full understanding of the cosmetic condition of this instrument we advise carefully inspecting the listing photos.
Condition of Frets:
This instrument appears to have had a recent level and re-crown performed to an acceptable standard. There is only a small amount of room remaining for future fret work.
