Here for sale we have an Ibanez AF-2000 Artstar Prestige Hollow Body Electric Guitar in Brown Sunburst finish. Made in Japan in 2023, this guitar consists of a Spruce top, Figured Anigre back and sides, a 3-Piece African Mahogany/S-Tech Roasted Maple Set-In neck, and a 20-fret Ebony fingerboard. Other appointments include an Ebony bridge, an AF Special tailpiece, Gotoh SGS510 machine heads, and Gold hardware. The pickups installed are a set of Ibanez Super 58 humbuckers that are wired to two volume controls, two tone controls, and a three-way pickup selector.
The 3-pc African Mahogany/S-Tech Roasted Maple Set-In neck plays very well, with the 'AF Artstar Prestige' profile filling the hand nicely for a substantial yet articulate grip across the register. The profile might be described as a moderately-sized 'C' shape which offers a smooth and responsive playing experience, well suited to tricky jazz voicings and smooth melodic lines alike. The gloss finish to the rear assists with navigation of the 24.75" scale, whilst the single cutaway ensures access to the upper frets is unrestricted.
The pair of Ibanez “Super 58” humbuckers provide classic jazz voicings whilst also being versatile enough to cover a wide variety of tonal styles. They are clear and articulate, and while the hollow body means that they are not best suited to high gain, they respond well to low/mid overdrive, great for solos or an extra bit of grit. The bridge pickup has beautiful clarity, allowing for shimmering trebles to ring through whilst the middle position is the best of both the neck and bridge pickup, creating smooth and defined voicings. The neck position has rounded creamer tones great for chordal phrasings or quick jazz style lines, offering plenty of room for tonal scaping.
