This guitar is a commission sale. If you have a high-end or vintage guitar you are interested in selling please contact us.
Due CITES regulations & the likelihood that the fingerboard is made from Brazilian Rosewood, this guitar is offered for sale to UK BUYERS ONLY.
Here for sale we have a Guild Custom order M75 from 1962. Whilst being a customer order this guitar has also been heavily modified. Made in Hoboken, New Jersey, in the old R. Neumann Leathers building, this guitar features a lightweight hollow body that measures 13.75” wide and is 2.15” deep and consists of Mahogany back and sides and Spruce top. The F holes have been filled with foam as a way to reduce feedback by a previous owner.
The Mahogany neck is topped by a 22 fret Ivoroid-bound Rosewood fingerboard. The headstock features a Turquoise “G” inlay and aftermarket Wilkinson tuning machines. Other appointments include aftermarket TOM style bridge and Bigsby tailpiece.
Three unbranded single coil pickups have been fitted and wired to a 3-way pickup selector, independent volumes and a master tone control. This guitar has been refinished by Rob at Dick Knight guitars in a ‘Firebird Red’ finish.
The Mahogany neck plays very nicely, with a profile which might be described as a smooth 'D' profile well suited to a wide range of playing styles and techniques. The Rosewood of the fretboard is pleasant under the fingers and provides a luxurious playing surface to explore. The smaller body shape is comfortable in the arms in both standing & seated positions, and even at 64 years old, the instrument retains a sense of luxury that is very pleasing.
The three singlecoil pickups definitely hold their own unique character. They have a rich, open tone, with a warm low end, a tight and creamy midrange, along with an airy, articulate top end, providing loads of clarity across a wide range of tonal settings. The individual pickup volume knobs and 3-way tone switch help to inspire the exploration of different tones and sounds that can be made with the guitar. Well preserved & tastefully modified, this is a beautiful instrument that is ready to serve as a musical companion to its new owner for many more years.
Please be aware that for international buyers import fees are not included in our postage and packaging cost, this only covers the cost of the guitar being sent to you. Import fees will be charged by Customs upon the guitar's arrival in the recipient country. Due to Brexit, this also applies to EU buyers. We advise checking the total import cost with Customs as this is not information we are able to accurately provide.
