Gibson SG Special Ebony 2000 Left Handed Electric Guitar
Here for sale we have a left handed Gibson SG Special in Ebony finish. Made in the USA in 2000, this guitar features a set-neck construction comprising a Mahogany body, Mahogany neck and 22 fret Rosewood fingerboard. Chrome hardware is fitted including a StopBar tailpiece, ABR-1 ToM bridge & Gibson Deluxe tuning machines with 'Tulip' buttons. A pair of passive Gibson humbucking pickups are installed, with a 490R in the neck and 490T in the bridge. These are wired to a three way toggle switch and independent volume & tone controls. 
 
The Mahogany neck plays very well, with a nicely rounded profile which might be described as a 'C' shape. This is perfect for a wide range of styles and playing techniques as it is both comfortable and manageable across the register. The Rosewood of the fretboard is pleasant under the fingers, and with its traditional 12" radius is equally well suited to fast lead lines & chord playing. The dual cutaway body design with the comparatively small heel of the SG ensures that access to the upper frets is unobstructed. 
 
The 490R and 490T pickups sound thick and raw, with a solid output that pushes the front end of an amp nicely. The neck pickup is full and warm whilst remaining tight. The midrange is perfectly balanced and delivers plenty of power for your lead and solo tones. The bridge has a hot output and produces a biting tone which easily cuts through the mix for those rock rhythm sounds, and delivers a saturate harmonic distortion. The SG has always been a versatile instrument, and with the traditional control layout & a great pair of pickups, this instrument lives up to that reputation.

    Aesthetic Condition:

    Headstock: Overall good condition. The front face demonstrates delamination of the finish throughout, as is common with Gibson’s of this era. The top edge and sides demonstrate light scratching and chipping to the finish, most notably to the top rear edge and bass side rear corner where the wood is lightly exposed. 

     

    Neck: Overall very good condition. The rear of the neck demonstrates light to mild scratching and indentation throughout, most notably behind the 3rd and 8th frets where the finish has chipped to reveal the wood beneath. The fingerboard shows light signs of previous use.

     

    Body: Overall very good condition. The body demonstrates light to mild scratching, scuffing and indentations throughout. Wear of the finish is present at the treble side rear edge of the waist where the wood is very lightly exposed. A very light scuff mark is present at the bass side edge of the rear face. The pickguard shows milder scuffing consistent with playwear. At the bass side of the pickguard there is some light discoloration of the finish, likely where the finish has been exposed to contact cleaner for too long. This is only visible under direct light and close inspection.   

     

    Condition of Frets:

    The frets demonstrate light signs of use, not affecting playability. Very light denting is present in the early register, with flattening of the crowns throughout. There is considerable material remaining for any fret work the new owner may wish to perform.

     

    Current Set Up:

    Truss Rod: Fully functional. Truss rod tool (5/16") not included.

    Hardware: Very good condition. Mild tarnishing is apparent to the bridge. The pickups show markings from contact with the strings, most notably the bridge pickup. Some light corrosion is present to the pole pieces. 

    Structural: No concerns or issues to note.

    Height of the string from the 12th Fret-1.5mm - Bass 2mm
