Here for sale we have a Gibson Memphis ES-335 Semi-Hollow Electric Bass in Vintage Sunburst finish. Made in the USA in 2013, this bass features a set-neck construction comprising a semi-hollow Laminated Maple body, Mahogany neck, and 20-fret Rosewood fingerboard. Other appointments include an aftermarket Babictz FCH 3-point 4-string bridge, Grover Open Gear Tuners, double bound body, bound neck, and a set of Gibson Humbucking pickups. These pickups are wired to two independent volume controls, two independent tone controls, and a three-way pickup selector.
The Mahogany neck sits comfortably in the hand, with the profile feeling chunky without being cumbersome, offering a dependable grip whilst also providing a smooth and articulate playing experience. The Rosewood fingerboard feels pleasant under the fingers, whilst the 12” radius allows for ease of different techniques such as slap bass or chordal playing. The double cutaway body design allows the player to have unobstructed access to the entire register, whilst its semi-hollow nature also makes longer durations of playing a comfortable experience.
The semi-hollow construction provides an open airiness to the sound which makes the instrument suitable for a wide range of genres whilst retaining a unique and unmistakable voice. The Gibson humbuckers deliver a thick and powerful tone, with smooth rounded lows, clear and open mid range and a sweet treble response that captures the attack and aggression of your playing. Aesthetic Condition:
Headstock: Overall excellent condition. All aspects of the headstock demonstrate light scratching visible only under direct lighting at certain angles.
Neck: Overall excellent condition. The fingerboard demonstrates some light "roundwound markings" where the string has been pressed into the fingerboard. This does not affect the overall playability of the instrument and cannot be felt under the string. Light scratching and indentations are present across the register to the rear of the neck, these can lightly be felt in the playing position.
Body: Overall very good condition. All aspects of the body demonstrate light to mild scratching visible only under direct lighting at certain angles. This is most notable to the upper bout of the rear face consistent with playwear. The bass side horn demonstrates an indentation that has marked but not removed the finish to the front face. The bass and treble sides of lower bout demonstrate small less severe indentations near the binding.
Condition of Frets:
The frets demonstrate very light signs of use, not affecting playability. There is considerable material remaining for any future fret work the new owner may wish to perform.
Current Set Up:
Truss Rod: Fully functional. Truss rod tool (5/16" socket) not included.
Hardware: Very good condition with light tarnishing to the pickup covers. The original bridge has been replaced with a Babictz FCH 3-point 4-string bridge. The original bridge is included in the case.
Structural: No concerns or issues to note.
Height of the string from the 12th Fret-2mm - Bass 2.5mm
