Here for sale we have a very special Gibson Les Paul Custom Shop Standard in an eye-catching Black Green Sparkle. Based on some clear features and correspondence with Gibson we believe that this guitar is a ‘Dealer Request’ custom order featuring 50’s specifications.

Made in 2009 in Nashville USA in what some claim to be Gibsons ‘Golden Era’, this guitar features a 2-piece Maple top which is married to a Mahogany body, 50’s Rounded profile Mahogany neck and a 22 Medium Jumbo fret Rosewood fingerboard defining the Les Paul tone. A pair of Lindy Fralin Pure P.A.F humbuckers have been fitted along with a pair of Russian Vintage Paper In Oil Tone Capacitors, Gibson ‘Historic’ control pots in a standard Les Paul wiring, 3-way selector, duel volume and tone controls for both the neck and bridge pickups.

The Mahogany body and 2-piece Maple top matched with the Rosewood fingerboard and Mahogany neck provide this guitar with soaring responsive resonance that true Les Pauls are renowned for, giving the guitar warm, smooth and rich tones that are an unmatched iconic part of musical culture. The Mahogany neck sits comfortably in the hand, with the 50’s Rounded profile filling the hand without being overly thick, this offers a balanced and smooth playing experience. The Medium Jumbo frets and 12" radius provide a robust and smooth playing experience all across the Rosewood fingerboard, and enhance string bending and vibrato techniques. The ABR-1 bridge provides this guitar almost infinite sustain and gives a true vintage feel for the player to get the most out of this guitar effortlessly.

The Lindy Fralin pickups in this guitar offer a full, thick tone, plenty of warmth and roundness is present in the neck position. The middle position sounds punchy, with driving mids along with crisp and clear highs making for a nice blend of the two pickups. The bridge position provides open sustain and broad harmonic clarity, making chords sound crystalline and clear. The Classic Les Paul wiring gives plenty of versatility without any complicated switching, whilst offering pickups that are wired to Gibson ‘Historic’ potentiometers and Russian Vintage Paper In Oil Tone Capacitors making this instrument great for tonal sculpting to the players desired taste. Another perfect example of Gibson in its Golden Era of innovation and bringing the Gibson vintage authenticity back to life with a unique twist.

    Aesthetic Condition:

Headstock: Overall very good condition, the front face edges demonstrate finish chipping both on the bass side where the guitar would make contact with a hanger, and to the treble side beside the B string machine head. The finish to the front face behind the nut is slightly hazy under direct lighting with a small crack in the finish.

Neck: Overall very good condition, the fingerboard demonstrates light indentation consistent with regular use in the early register. This cannot be felt under the string and does not affect the overall playability of the instrument.

Body: Overall very good condition, the front face demonstrates light scratching either side of the neck pickup consistent with the use of a plectrum. The rear demonstrates some buckle rash, not piercing the finish. There is a small indentation towards the bass side edge of the rear face which pierces the finish slightly.

    Condition of Frets:

The frets demonstrate light signs of use, with some light indentation in the early register not affecting playability. There is considerable material remaining for future fret work.

    Current Set Up:

Truss Rod: Fully functional. Truss rod tool (5/16" socket) not included.

Hardware: Fully functional with light signs of wear. Tarnishing of the gold finish is present to both the bridge and tailpiece as well as the bridge pickup cover. Two sets of control knobs are included along with the original strap buttons and Dunlop strap locks. A metal pickguard is featured to which we can not verify if this was from Gibson or fitted by a previous owner.

Structural: No concerns or issues to note.
