Here for sale we have a rather rare Gibson ES-390 hollow body electric guitar in Ebony finish. Introduced in 2013, the ES-390 can be thought of as a scaled-down ES-330 thanks to its hollow body construction and trapeze tailpiece. The instrument was only available with Mini Humbuckers during 2013, and whilst the ES-390 has remained in production it has only been available with P-90 pickups since 2014.
Made in the Gibson Memphis factory in 2014, this guitar features a set-neck construction comprising a Laminated Maple body, Mahogany neck and 22 fret Rosewood fingerboard. Nickel hardware is fitted including a Nashville TOM bridge, Trapeze tailpiece & a set of Kluson Deluxe tuning machines with 'Tulip' keystone buttons. A pair of Gibson Mini Humbucking pickups are installed, and are wired to a 3-way toggle switch & independent volume & tone controls.
The mahogany neck plays very well, with a profile which might be described as a moderately-sized 'C' shape. Gibson began with the historic ES-330 profile, and slimmed it down for the ES-390. This means that whilst the profile is by no means 'thin', it is very well proportioned for smooth & easy playability. The fact that it retains the shape of the historic neck makes for a playing experience which is curiously familiar whilst offering improved playability. Paired with the lightweight hollow body, playability & comfort are absolutely exceptional with this instrument.
The Mini Humbuckers installed in this guitar are sought after for their unique sound, with a tone that is somewhere between a full-size humbucker and a single coil, the sound is reminiscent of a PAF humbucker. Their smooth attack adds a grind when the amp is pushed into distortion, and the physically smaller size of the pickup results in a more mid-focused and brighter tone. Working in conjunction with the hollow body construction, there is plenty of dynamic range on offer which responds beautifully well to the player's touch. A unique instrument in the Gibson line up which is very rewarding to play.

Aesthetic Condition:
Headstock: Overall excellent condition, it is difficult to discern any markings to the headstock.
Neck: Overall excellent condition, the fingerboard demonstrates a very small amount of glue residue around the 20th fret on the bass side. It is difficult to discern any other markings to the neck and fingerboard.
Body: Overall excellent condition, all aspects of the body demonstrate very light scratching visible only under direct lighting at certain angles. This is most notable along the bass side front face of the lower bout.
Condition of Frets:
The frets demonstrate very light signs of use, not affecting playability. There is considerable material remaining for any future fret work the new owner may wish to perform.
Current Set Up:
Truss Rod: Fully functional. Truss rod tool (5/16" socket) not included.
Hardware: Fully functional with mild tarnishing of the hardware.
Structural: No concerns or issues to note.
Height of the string from the 12th Fret-1.25mm - Bass 1.75mm
