Here for sale we have a single Vintage Gibson Embossed Logo Patent Sticker Mini humbucking neck pickup. Made in the USA in c.1971, these pickups were featured in many early '70s Gibson's such as the Les Paul & SG Deluxe and ES-325. The PAT NO. sticker to the bottom & original solder indicate the pickup was made between '68 & '75, whilst the embossed logo was only available for a very limited time; introduced in '71 and discontinued in 1972.
Gibson Mini Humbuckers are sought after for their unique sound, famously favoured by Pete Townshend of The Who, who used these pickups during the 1970's. With a tone that is somewhere between a full-size humbucker and a single coil, the sound is reminiscent of a PAF humbucker. Their smooth attack adds a grind when the amp is pushed into distortion, and the physically smaller size of the pickup results in a more mid-focused and brighter tone.
Resistance - 6..69kΩ
Wire Length - ∼24cm
