Here for sale we have a Gibson EB-0 Electric Bass in Cherry finish. Made in the USA in 1973, the EB-0 featured some significant upgrades in the 70's, including a heavier Honduran Mahogany body, a Maple neck, and an updated 3-point Chrome bridge. The bass also features a 22-fret Rosewood fingerboard, Schaller M4-S open-gear tuners, and a single Gibson 'Mudbucker' Single Coil pickup. This pickup is wired to a master volume, and a master tone control.
The Laminated Maple neck plays very well, with a profile that might be described as rounded sitting very comfortably in the hand and offering ergonomic thumb positioning and easy reach in all registers. The short 30.5" scale length is perfect for those with smaller hands or guitarists moonlighting as bass players. Certainly, the register feels highly manoeuvrable, with the gloss finish to the rear further assisting with smooth navigation of the fretboard. The Rosewood is supremely pleasant under the fingers and adds a touch of luxury to the playing experience.
The Gibson 'Mudbucker' Single Coil delivers a thick and powerful tone, with smooth rounded lows, clear and open mid range and a sweet treble response that captures the attack and aggression of your playing. The pots feel nicely responsive, allowing you to dial in your perfect tone with ease, whilst the simplicity of the controls ensure that you can stay focussed on your playing whilst still offering comprehensive control of your tone. This is certainly a special bass that has been favoured by many musicians through the wonder years of the 60’s and 70's and onwards, this bass allows you to plug into history.

Aesthetic Condition:
Headstock: Overall good condition. Mild to moderate indentations are present to the edges of the headstock with most of these chipping the finish and exposing the wood beneath. With this the most noticeable indentation can be seen to the treble side tip where some of the wood has been chipped away leaving material missing. Mild to moderate scratching is present to both the front and rear faces of the headstock, the most apparent can be seen scattered across the front face common with a well played guitar of this age
Neck: Overall very good condition. Mild to moderate indentations are present to the rear of the neck across the register, the most apparent can be seen and felt in the early register which have exposed the wood beneath the finish. Light to mild scratching is apparent throughout the register, not affecting the playability. Haziness of the finish can be seen to the rear of the neck heel, this is common with nitrocellulose finishes on a bass of this age. The finish has worn away to the treble side edge of the neck common with past use. Light indentations are present to the early register of the fingerboard, this is consistent with the stings touching the fingerboard from previous use.
Body: Overall good condition. Cracking to the body can be seen to the lower bout treble side of the front face, these have previously been repaired to a satisfactory standard but where the damaged occurred is still visible, we have tested these and they present no structural concerns. All aspects of the body demonstrate mild to moderate scratching and indentation in line with a well played bass of this age, most notably to both the bass and treble side lower bout edges where both the finish and some material have come away. All aspects of the body display moderate fading of the original cherry finish, the original finish can be seen most prominent to the lower bout edge. The rear demonstrates moderate buckle rash some of which have pierced the finish. Two screw holes are present to either side of the bridge, this is from where a bridge plate used to be installed. Haziness of the finish can be seen to all aspects of the body, this is common with nitrocellulose finishes on a bass of this age.
Condition of Frets:
The frets demonstrate notable signs of use, not affecting playability. Denting and flattening of the frets is apparent throughout the register. There is light material remaining for any fret work the new owner may wish to perform.
Current Set Up:
Truss Rod: Fully functional. Truss rod tool (5/16" socket) not included.
Hardware: Overall very good condition. All aspects of the metal hardware display light to mild tarnishing, oxidation and marking consistent with a bass of this age. The pick guard screws display mild to moderate oxidation, along with this discoloration and slight warping of the pick guard is also present.
Structural: No concerns or issues to not.
Height of the string from the 12th Fret-2.25mm - Bass 2.5mm
Please be aware that the action on a guitar may move slightly in transit and this measurement is the current height.
Strings on Guitar - 45-100
This guitar demonstrates moderate fret noise primarily to the A sting 12th fret upwards which is apparent when amplified. This noise does not affect sustain of notes, nor does it affect bending the notes. The new owner may choose to raise the action to alleviate this.
Electrics: Fully functional.
Case & Accessories
