Here for sale we have a Gibson Custom Shop ‘59 ES-335 in Vintage Burst Nitrocellulose Lacquer. Made in the USA in 2021, this guitar consists of a Maple/Poplar/Maple body with solid Maple centerblock, Mahogany neck and 22 fret Rosewood fingerboard. Other appointments include Kluson Deluxe tuning machines with Tulip buttons, ABR-1 bridge and StopBar tailpiece. A pair of Custombucker Alnico III pickups are fitted and wired to a 3-way pickup selector as well as independent volume and tone controls.

The Mahogany neck plays beautifully, with the '59 C Shape profile filling the handle nicely for a substantial and vintage-inspired playing experience. The profile has nicely rounded shoulders which ensure comfort across the register. Certainly, the neck is generously proportioned and produces a unique sensation when compared with modern Gibson neck profiles, making this instrument feel special. Other more familiar appointments include the Rosewood fingerboard with 12" radius which is practical for a wide range of styles and techniques whilst providing a pleasant and tactile playing surface. The familiar lines of the 335 body design are as comfortable in the arms as ever, allowing plenty of space for easy access to the controls.

The pair of Custombucker Alnico III pickups installed in this guitar deliver thick and full-bodied tones, exemplifying the rock and blues sounds that Gibson has long been renowned for. The neck position is warm and round, with plenty of power for pushing your lead lines and solos to the front of the mix. The bridge is of course brighter, perfect for rock rhythm parts and riffing because it can handle a serious amount of gain. There is all of the snarl and bite that we associate with rockin' tones, yet at the same time definition and clarity is retained. The pickups clean up nicely too, with shimmering clean sounds ready for the softer sections of the set. The semi-hollow construction ensures a resonant and lively sound, with plenty of dynamic range on offer. A unique vintage-spec ES-335.

Aesthetic Condition:

Headstock: Overall very good condition. The front face of the headstock displays light scratching which can only be seen under direct light, the most prominent of these can be seen between the low E and A tuning posts. Light hazing of the finish is present to the front face, this is common with Nitrocellulose finishes and can only be seen under direct light. A light chip to the finish can be seen on the treble edge of the front face above the nut.

Neck: Overall excellent condition. A very light tooling mark is present to the 17th fret of the fingerboard, this can be seen under the low E string under direct light and can not be felt in the playing position. All other aspects of the neck and fingerboard display light signs of past use.

Body: Overall very good condition. Light scratching is present to all aspects of the body which can be seen under direct light, the most apparent of these can be seen to the rear face around the strap button. Light marking is present to the bass side of the neck heel, this can be seen under close scrutiny and is consistent with the nitro finish reacting with a strap. Light hazing of the finish is present to all aspects of the body, this is common with Nitrocellulose finishes and can only be seen under direct light.

Condition of Frets:

The frets demonstrate light signs of use, not affecting playability. There is considerable material remaining for any fret work the new owner may wish to perform.

Current Set Up:

Truss Rod: Fully functional. Truss rod tool (5/16" socket) included.

Hardware: Overall very good condition. All aspects of the metal hardware display light to mild tarnishing, scratching and oxidation of the Nickel finish. This is consistent with past use and is most prominent to the pickup covers, bridge and tailpiece. Light fine scratching is present to the pick guard which can be seen under direct light.

Structural: No concerns or issues to note.

Height of the string from the 12th Fret-1.5mm - Bass 2mm
