Here for sale we have a Gibson Custom LEs Paul Axcess Standard in Gun Metal Grey finish. The Les Paul Axcess was introduced by Gibson in 2009 as a marriage between the traditional look and feel associated with the Les Paul, whilst incorporating modern playability features. These include the obvious Floyd Rose double-locking tremolo system, as well as an ergonomically carved neck heel, comfort body contours & push/pull coil splits. The model has remained in production ever since, even being used as the basis for Rush guitarist Alex Lifeson's 2011 signature model- which no doubt boosted the popularity of the Axcess line of instruments. 
 
Made in the USA in 2014, this guitar features a set-neck construction comprising a weight-relieved Mahogany body with Carved Maple top, Mahogany neck and 22 fret Rosewood fingerboard with Pearl Trapezoid inlays. Chrome hardware is fitted including a Floyd Rose double-locking tremolo system & Gibson Deluxe vintage-style tuning machines with 'Keystone' buttons. A pair of Gibson open-coil passive humbucking pickups are installed, with a 490R in the neck and a 498T in the bridge. These are wired to a 3-way toggle switch, independent volume & tone controls, with push/pull coil splits for each pickup on their respective tone pots. 
 
The Mahogany neck plays very well, with the 'Rounded Axcess Profile' filling the hand nicely for a substantial but not at all cumbersome playing experience across the register. Whilst the shoulders are certainly rounded, there is a very slight flat spot to the centre rear which encourages ergonomic thumb positioning in all registers. Continuing the ergonomic theme, the weight relief, comfort contours & sculpted neck heel ensure that that this instrument is supremely comfortable to play in either standing or seated positions. The Rosewood fingerboard and it's 12" radius deliver familiar Les Paul playability & feel, whilst the addition of the Floyd Rose bridge opens up the opportunity for some serious guitar acrobatics. 
 
Amplified, the pair of Gibson open-coil passive humbucking pickups deliver thick and full bodied tones, just as we expect from a Les Paul. The 490R in the neck position is round and powerful, pushing those lead lines and solos to the front of the mix with ease. The 498T in the bridge is of course brighter & hotter, and handles a serious amount of gain for those saturated rhythm parts & riffs.  The controls are responsive, whilst the addition of independent coil split functions make this an instrument which is surely ready for wherever the gig takes you.
