Here for sale we have a Fender Roland G-5 VG Stratocaster Electric Guitar in 3 Tone Sunburst. This guitar was designed to be the perfect marriage between Fender's iconic Stratocaster, and Roland's ground breaking COSM technology. Instantly accessible alternate tunings and guitar models makes this guitar a true swiss army knife of the six string world.
Made in Mexico in 2012, this guitar consists of an Alder body, a Maple neck, and a 22-fret Rosewood fingerboard. Other appointments include a Vintage Style Synchronised Tremolo system, Die-Cast Fender tuners, three Fender Standard Single Coil pickups, and a Roland Hexaphonic Divided Pickup. These pickups are wired to a master volume, master tone, 5-way pickup selector, alternate tuning selector, and an alternate model selector.
The Maple neck plays very well, with the Modern ‘C’ profile sitting very comfortably in the hand and promoting ergonomic thumb positioning in all registers. The Gloss finish to the rear feels smooth whilst providing an articulate playing experience. The Rosewood fingerboard is pleasant under the fingers and offers a tactile and durable playing surface, with the 9.5" radius working in conjunction with the frets to produce a rock solid playing surface which is practical for string bending, vibrato techniques and complex chord voicings alike.
Despite this guitar's Roland wizardry, the Fender Standard Stratocaster Single-Coils pickups still deliver all the classic Stratocaster tones that you could wish for. The bridge pickup provides bright and glistening trebles with plenty of spank, Power chords and riffs sound gritty, whilst lead tones are crisp and clear. However, with subtler amp settings the bridge offers a bright, glassy clean tone. The middle pickup produces bright trebles and full warm bass, and lends itself well to rhythm tones. The neck pickup is round and powerful, great for chordal phrasings or quick jazz style lines, whilst also handling higher gain settings masterfully.
The true genius of this instrument lies in Roland's COSM technology. The built-in Roland Hexaphonic Divided Pickup allows the player to select alternate tunings and guitar models instantly via the onboard controls. This grants access to tunings such as; Drop D, Open G, D Modal, and Baritone. Some of the featured models to choose from are; Strat, Tele, Humbucker, Acoustic, and 12-String. The guitar is incredibly hard to put down, and is sure to inspire the next person to pick it up.
