Here for sale we have a Fender Player Lead II in Black. The Fender Lead Series was first introduced under CBS in 1979 and contained the Lead I, II & III models. Fender reintroduced the Lead II & III as part of the Player series in 2020. Built in Mexico in 2019, this guitar features an Alder body with a bolt-on Maple neck and 22 fret Maple fingerboard. This instrument is fitted with a Synthetic Bone nut and Chrome hardware including a 6-Saddle String-Through-Body Hardtail bridge with Block Saddles and Vintage "F" Stamped tuning machines. The pickups installed are Player Series Alnico 5 Strat Single-Coils in both the neck and bridge. These are wired to a 3-Way pickup selector, 2-Way phase switch, master volume and tone controls.
The Maple neck plays very well, with the "Modern C" neck profile feeling slim enough to comfortably play lines across the whole register, but substantial enough to provide satisfying tactile feedback when chord playing. The gloss finish on the back of the neck feels sleek in the hand ensuring smooth playability across the neck's 22 Medium Jumbo frets. The Maple fretboard provides a solid, slick playing surface and its 9.5” radius finds an ideal middle ground for players who want both comfortable chord playing and practicality for melodic playing and string bends.
Amplified, Fender’s Player Series Alnico 5 Strat Single-Coils deliver a clear and articulate tone, just as we expect from Fender. The neck position is full, smooth and round sounding, ideal for lead and solo tones. The bridge is of course brighter, providing plenty of Fender 'twang' and saturating into a searing distortion when driving the amp. The addition of a phase reverse switch provides a Strat-style 'honk' in the middle position, meaning that there are 4 distinct tones available before you've even touched the volume and tone controls or a pedal. A seriously cool guitar sure to stand out from the crowd.
