Here for sale we have a beautiful Fender Japan Reissue '62 Telecaster Custom (1985-1999) in Candy Apple Red finish. Prior to 2015 these guitars were sold under the name TL-62, however the naming convention was changed in 2015 to more closely resemble Fender's USA & Mexican operations. Made in Japan in 2015, this guitar is based on the 1962 Telecaster Custom specification and features a bolt-on construction comprising an Alder body, Maple neck and 21 fret Rosewood fingerboard. Nickel hardware is fitted including a Vintage-Style telecaster bridge & vintage-style split-post tuning machines. A pair of Fender Japan Vintage-Style Tele Single-Coil pickups are installed, and are wired to a 3-way blade switch, master volume & master tone controls. 
 
The Maple neck plays exceptionally well, with a profile which is vintage-inspired without feeling too bulky or cumbersome. Fender Japan typically describe their neck profiles as 'Oval Type' and although no profile is listed on the specification sheet or serial decoder, it certainly feels like an oval in the hand, quite similar to a 'C' shape. There is plenty of substance to the profile which inspires confidence when playing chords & rhythm parts, whilst lead lines and solos are well accommodated. The Rosewood of the fingerboard is luxurious under the fingers, with a dark appearance and tight grain pattern that provides a smooth & durable playing surface. The vintage-correct 7.25" radius is paired with what appear to be vintage-style frets for an authentic playing experience. 
 
Amplified, the pair of Vintage- Style Telecaster single-coil pickups deliver beautifully clear and precise tones that are quintessential Telecaster whilst also providing some Fender Japan refinement. The neck pickup is warm and round, with plenty of power for driving your solo tones to the front of the mix. The bridge pickup is always the main event in a Telecaster, and this particular one does not disappoint. Plenty of bright Telecaster 'Twang' is present, and with a nice high output, the pickup can push your amp into a gritty and raw distortion. The controls are nice and responsive, allowing you to dial in your perfect sound right on the guitar. A beautiful example of one of Fender Japan's most desirable instruments.
