Here for sale we have a Fender American Acoustasonic Jazzmaster in Ocean Turquoise finish. Made in the USA in 2021, this guitar is part of Fender's innovative line of Acoustasonic hybrid instruments. Fender had been experimenting with hybrid guitar designs since around 2003 with the original Acoustasonic Stratocaster, which featured a hollow Alder body with Graphite top & two sound holes, along with exclusively piezo pickups. Another model was released in 2010 which featured a Telecaster body shape and magnetic neck pickup rather than a second soundhole, and can essentially be thought of as the prototype for the Acoustasonic series as it is known today. The update came in 2019 with a Telecaster, and was followed with a Stratocaster model in 2020 and a Jazzmaster in 2021.
A bolt-on construction is employed, and comprises a hollow Mahogany body with a Solid Spruce top, Mahogany neck and 22 fret Ebony fingerboard with matching bridge. A set of Fender Chrome sealed/staggered tuning machines are fitted, as well as a Graphtech TUSQ saddle & nut, A trio of pickups are installed, with an undersaddle piezo, Internal Body sensor & Fender Acoustasonic Shawbucker magnetic pickup. These are wired to a 5-way blade switch & master volume controls, as well as a 'blend' control.
The Mahogany neck plays very well. The Modern 'Deep C' profile fills the hand nicely for a comfortable and practical grip across the register. The open-pore finish to the rear of the neck is pleasantly tactile under the thumb, whilst the single cutaway body design & sculpted heel enhance access to the upper frets. In a departure from Fender's tradition, the radius of the Ebony fingerboard is 12", which provides a nicely flat and consistent playing surface across the register, adding to the acoustic vibe of the instrument. The Narrow Tall frets improve the feel of vibrato and string bending techniques, and ensure the practicality and easy playability of an electric guitar is retained.
Despite the hollow construction of the body, the unplugged tone & power of the instrument is not dissimilar from a solid body or perhaps a thinline semi-hollow. The guitar comes into its own when plugged in however, with positions 2-5 on the selector engaging the 'acoustic' pickups for an incredibly convincing acoustic tone. Making use of the Blend control allows you to achieve acoustic sounds based on a Mahogany/Spruce dreadnought, as well as a Rosewood/Spruce dread in position 3. The magnetic pickup in position one delivers a more traditional electric tone, with plenty of the characteristic clarity we expect from Fender. A truly innovative instrument from Fender with a raft of sounds to explore.
Please be aware that for international buyers import fees are not included in our postage and packaging cost, this only covers the cost of the guitar being sent to you. Import fees will be charged by Customs upon the guitar's arrival in the recipient country. Due to Brexit, this also applies to EU buyers. We advise checking the total import cost with Customs as this is not information we are able to accurately provide.
