Here for sale we have a Fender Stratocaster in sunburst finish. Made in the USA in 1979, this guitar features a bolt-on construction comprising an Ash body, Maple neck and 21 fret Rosewood fingerboard. CBS era appointments include 3-point micro-tilt neck plate, bullet truss rod adjustment, large 70’s headstock, 6-saddle hardtail bridge and split-post ‘F’ stamped tuning machines. A trio of unbranded aftermarket pickups have been fitted and wired to a 5-way pickup selector, master volume, neck tone and middle and treble tone.
The Maple neck plays fantastically well, with the '70s neck profile feeling somewhat like a 'U' shape and providing a substantial yet articulate playing experience in all registers. The profile will feel familiar to those used to modern Fender necks, but provides a little more thickness for an authentic vintage playing experience. The Rosewood fingerboard is pleasant under the fingers. The 7.25" radius and playwear make for suitably vintage playing experience. The original inlays have been replaced for pearlescent inlays.
The trio of single-coil pickups deliver classic strat tones. A bell-like high end is complemented well by punchy mids and robust low frequencies, with crisp articulation in all positions. The 5-way blade switch provides plenty of versatility, with an array of sounds that make it clear why the Stratocaster has been a mainstay of electric guitar for over 70 years. A fantastic workhorse Fender guitar.

Aesthetic Condition:
Headstock: Overall good condition, all aspects of the headstock demonstrate scratching, chipping and indentation piercing the finish and revealing the wood beneath. This is most apparent to the top edges. The finish has yellowed significantly due to ageing, as is typical of 70's Fender instruments. We advise carefully inspecting the photographs provided for a fuller understanding of the cosmetic condition of this instrument.
Neck: Overall very good condition, the original inlays have been replaced for pearlescent inlays, performed to a professional standard. The fingerboard demonstrates some divots in the early register, typical for a well played instrument of this age. Some pick wear is apparent in the very end of the fingerboard. The finish to the edges of the fingerboard has chipped away unevenly throughout the register. The rear of the neck demonstrates consistent light to moderate indentation throughout the register. This is somewhat difficult to discern beneath the thumb. The worst of these markings chips the finish in the upper register revealing the wood beneath.
Body: Overall good condition, all aspects of the body demonstrate scratching, chipping, cracking and indentation piercing the finish and revealing the wood beneath. Large sections of finish are missing from the sides and edges of the guitar. Yellowing and hazing of the finish is apparent throughout. We advise carefully inspecting the photographs provided for a fuller understanding of the cosmetic condition of this instrument.
Condition of Frets:
The frets demonstrates light signs of use, with some flattening of the crowns and indentations through the register, not affecting playability. There is considerable material remaining for future fret work. It is apparent that a re-fret has taken place relatively recently, with some slight tooling marks to the fret ends. The work has been performed to a professional standard.
