Here for sale we have a Ernie Ball Music Man Stingray 4EX 3EQ electric bass guitar in 3-Tone Sunburst finish. This short lived series of basses was made with USA parts in Japan, benefitting from high quality parts & Japanese craftsmanship. Made in the Japan in 2000, this guitar features a bolt-on construction comprising an Alder body, Maple neck and 21 fret Rosewood fingerboard. Other appointments include Music Man open gear tuning machines and Music Man string-through-body bridge. A Music Man humbucking pickup with Alnico magnets is installed in the bridge position, and is wired to a master volume & active 3-band EQ.
The Maple neck plays very well, with a profile that might be described as a moderately-sized 'C' shape which sits comfortably in the hand and provides a smooth and responsive playing experience across the register. The Rosewood fingerboard provides a smooth and comfortable playing surface, along with the 1.6875” nut width which allows for different techniques such as slap bass or chordal playing. The satin finish to the rear assists with slick navigation of the 34" scale, and along with the generous cutaways ensures that access to the upper frets is a breeze.
Since their introduction in 1976, StingRay basses have been sought after by players for their distinctive tonal character. There is a deep and rich low end growl, with punchy mids and a snappy treble response which blends perfectly into a wide range of musical settings; filling out the low end of the mix and capturing all the attack and sparkle of your playing. Aesthetic Condition:
Headstock: Overall good condition. The headstock demonstrates mild to moderate indentations and finish wear throughout, most notably to the front and rear face at the tip where the finish is cracked.
Neck: Overall very good condition. The rear of the neck demonstrates light to mild indentations throughout, most notably in line with the first fret. Light discoloration is apparent throughout the rear of the neck as is common with open-pore finishes.
Body: Overall very good condition. All aspects of the body demonstrate light to mild scratching, scuffing and indentations. Most notably to the bass and treble side waist, where the finish has been removed and reveals the wood beneath. Further moderate indentation is present throughout the rear face consistent with buckle rash.
Condition of Frets:
The frets demonstrate moderate signs of use, not affecting playability. Very light denting is present to the early register and flattening of the frets is apparent throughout. There is considerable material remaining for any fret work the new owner may wish to perform.
Current Set Up:
Truss Rod: Fully functional. Truss rod tool (spoke wheel) not included.
Hardware: Fully functional and very good condition. Mild tarnishing and scratching is apparent to the bridge, control plate, tuners and neckplate.
Structural: No concerns or issues to note.
