Here for sale we have an Epiphone Matt Heafy Les Paul Custom 7 string electric guitar in Ebony finish. Made in China in 2016, this guitar is the first Epiphone signature model from Trivium lead singer & guitarist  Matt Heafy. After a brief stint with Dean guitars, Heafy moved to Gibson guitars around 2009, with his Epiphone Les Paul Custom being released in 2013 in both 6 & 7 string models. Matt uses his signature Epiphones extensively on the road, and is keen for his fans to be able to purchase the same model he uses with Trivium. In 2017 a 'Snøfall' version of the guitar was released with completely white finish, even down to the fingerboard & hardware. The current 'Origins' model which is available was released in 2022 and features Heafy's signature Fishman Fluence pickups.

Naturally, a set neck construction is employed, and comprises a Mahogany body with Maple top, Mahogany neck and 22 fret Ebony fingerboard, inlaid with MoP blocks. Black hardware is fitted including a LockTone StopBar tailpiece, ToM bridge and sealed tuning machines with 'Tulip' keys. A pair of active EMG humbucking pickups are installed, with a 707 in the neck & and an 81-7 in the bridge. These are wired to a 3-way toggle switch and independent volume & tone controls. Base on a Le Paul Custom, the body is bound and features multi-stripe  purfling, which is matched on the headstock where a MoP split diamond inlay is also featured.

The Mahogany neck plays very well, with a profile which might be described as a slim 'D' shape thanks to the lightly flattened area to the centre rear. This encourages ergonomic thumb positioning and is well suited to heavy riffing & fast lead lines As a seven string, the neck of course feels wider in the hand with a nut width of 1.878". Despite this, the profile feels easily manageable & manoeuvrable across the register. The 'Axcess' heel works in tandem with the cutaway to improve access to the upper register. The Ebony of the fingerboard is luxurious under the fingers, and with a traditional 12" radius works well for both rhythm and lead techniques.

Amplified, the pair of active EMG humbucking pickups deliver thick, crushing heavy tones, just as we expect from EMG & Heafy. The neck position is round & powerful, easily driving your lead tones & solos to the front of the mix. The bridge is of course brighter & hotter, producing searing rhythm sounds and tracking low-down riffing incredibly accurately. The simple control layout is of course familiar to Gibson players and offers comprehensive tonal control without over-complicating things. A serious tool for the metal guitarist who demands precision & playability alongside timeless looks.

Please be aware that for international buyers import fees are not included in our postage and packaging cost, this only covers the cost of the guitar being sent to you. Import fees will be charged by Customs upon the guitar's arrival in the recipient country. Due to Brexit, this also applies to EU buyers. We advise checking the total import cost with Customs as this is not information we are able to accurately provide.
