Made in Korea in 2020, this set-neck constructed guitar consists of a laminated Spruce top, laminated Flame Maple back and sides, a 3-piece Maple neck, and a 20-fret Ebony fingerboard. Other appointments include Gold hardware, a Scroll-Style Throwback headstock shape, Grover Super Rotomatic tuners, a D’Angelico Stairstep tailpiece, a floating Ebony bridge, and a USA Seymour Duncan Johnny Smith Floating Mini-Humbucker with pickguard mounted volume and tone controls.
The 'C' profile 3-piece Maple neck sits comfortably in the hand, the slim profile allows for fast and easy navigation without feeling too thin. This promotes ergonomic thumb positioning and easy reach across the register, perfect for a wide range of playing styles and techniques. The Gloss finish to the rear of the neck assists with smooth navigation of the 24.75" scale length, whilst the Ebony fingerboard adds a touch of luxury to the already opulent playing experience.
The acoustic voice of the Excel Style B Throwback is both soft and articulate, perfectly capturing the 'Jazz Box' tone that you would expect from this instrument. Chords sound distinctive and clear, whilst melodic lines are smooth. The USA Seymour Duncan Johnny Smith floating mini-humbucker delivers a smooth tone which is equally at home as a solo instrument or blending into an ensemble mix. Aesthetic Condition:
Headstock: Overall very good condition, finish "blushing" is apparent to the front face causing a cloudiness of the finish that cannot be removed by buffing/cleaning. The rear face demonstrates very consistent light scratching visible only under direct lighting at certain angles.
Neck: Overall excellent condition, it is difficult to discern any markings to the neck and fingerboard.
Body: Overall very good condition, all aspects of the body demonstrate light scratching visible only under direct lighting at certain angles. This is most apparent by the feet of the bridge and to the center of the rear face.
Condition of Frets:
The frets demonstrate very light signs of use, not affecting playability. There is considerable material remaining for future fret work.
Current Set Up:
Truss Rod: Fully functional. Truss rod tool (4mm hex) not included.
Hardware: Fully functional with light signs of wear. The bridge feet are not perfectly contoured to the arched top, however the bridge functions correctly.
Structural: No concerns or issues to note.
Height of the string from the 12th Fret-1.5mm - Bass 2mm
