Here for sale we have an absolutely sublime Collings OM2 acoustic guitar in High Gloss Nitrocellulose lacquer finish. Lovingly handcrafted in the USA, this beautiful instrument is the product of the luthiers at Bill Collings' revered workshop in Austin, Texas. Founded in 1973, Collings fell into the guitar building business through his natural interest in woodworking and engineering after he quit his pre-med course to work in a local machine shop. Constantly striving to improve and refine his instruments and craft, Collings instruments began to develop a reputation through the following decade as being amongst the finest available. The most exquisite materials are paired with meticulous attention to detail and master-craftsmanship to produce instruments of outstanding quality. 
 
Echoing that guitar, this instrument features an all-solid construction comprising East Indian Rosewood back and sides, Sitka Spruce top, Honduran Mahogany neck and 20 fret Ebony fingerboard with matching bridge. The body is double bound in Ivoroid, whilst the top is handsomely adorned with Herringbone purfling and multi-stripe Rosette, along with a Tortoiseshell pickguard. A 'Zipper’ pattern back strip continues the ornamentation on the rear of the instrument. The fingerboard is inlaid with Abalone abalone short diamond & squares. The saddle and nut are Bone, and the tuning machines are Nickel open-geared Waverly tuners.
 
The Honduran Mahogany neck plays very well.. The Modified 'V' profile is supremely comfortable, and in conjunction with the Volute delivers a suitably pre-war inspired playing experience. The high gloss finish provides a quick and fluid playing surface , allowing the hand to move with ease. The OM 14-fret body style is a lovely halfway point between parlour and dreadnought body styles, giving a solid and assured feel with the 25.5" scale, while the 15" lower bout and 4" depth keep things feeling comfortably intimate.
 
The acoustic voice of the OM2H is both rich and well balanced. The OM body size has long been renowned for its balanced tone and immediate across all 6 strings. Striking the perfect balance between the strong bass response and volume of the dreadnought and the intimate, balanced sound of the Parlor, the tone is well suited to both chordal and melodic playing styles. The Spruce top projects beautifully, delivering ample volume and dynamic range whilst retaining clarity throughout. The East Indian Rosewood back and sides add a warmth and character to the sound which is well complemented by the brightness of the Spruce top. A beautifully made and lavishly appointed instrument.
