Here for sale we have an Alhambra Línea Profesional - Javier Mengual classical guitar in Gloss Nitro Lacquer finish. Alhambra was born in the early 1960s when Francisco Martínez Clavel suggested to  his friends & partners who ran a small carpentry workshop that they draw on centuries of Spanish tradition to produce their own instruments. Thanks to the success of the first model, the company has gone on to spend the next six decades producing Spanish guitars for export to over 70 countries around the world. Alhambra today boasts over 100 expert craftsmen who produce a variety of acoustic, flamenco & classical instruments.

Made in Spain, this instrument features an all-solid Spanish Heel construction comprising a AAA Cedar top, Indian Rosewood back & sides, Cedar Neck and 20 fret Ebony fingerboard. The head-plate and bridge are made from Rosewood, as is the heel-plate. The body is double bound in Indian Rosewood with a handsome fine line of Maple bordering the binding to highlight it. This is echoed in the backstrap and end piece which feature the same design. The top is adorned with an attractive marquetry rosette & purfling design which is mirrored on the bridge to complete the classic aesthetics of the instrument. A Bone saddle & nut are fitted, along with a set of gold-plated Schaller Grand Tune Classic tuning machines.

The Cedar neck plays beautifully, with the ‘Ergoneck’ profile feeling somewhat like a moderately-sized 'D' shape which sits very comfortably in the hand. The 2.05" nut width is traditional for a classical guitar and offers ample string spacing for accurate fretting and articulate note separation. The Ebony fretboard is pleasant under the fingers and adds a real sense of opulent luxury to the playing experience. The flat fingerboard radius is another traditional feature of classical guitars which ensures an authentic and practical experience across the register. The smooth lines of the body are supremely comfortable in the arms, and alongside the sprightly weight of 3.85lbs ensures that long practice sessions and performances with this instrument are an absolute breeze.

The voice of the Alhambra Línea Profesional - Javier Mengual is both warm and precise, offering a distinct sonic character that is equally at home as a solo instrument or part of an ensemble. An unpronounced yet detailed low end provides the foundation for a smooth midrange and sparkling high frequencies that colour every note played on the instrument. The AAA Cedar top projects exceptionally well, and offers a sensitive dynamic range. Indeed, gentle playing is rewarded with a tender and intimate tone, whilst clarity is retained as you play harder. An exceptionally well made instrument with a beautiful rich tone.

    Aesthetic Condition:

Headstock: Overall excellent condition. Very light scuffing is present to the front edge of the tip. This is only visible under very close scrutiny. Very light scratching to the front face is visible under direct light and close scrutiny, as is common with high gloss finishes.

Neck: Overall excellent condition. Two light imperfections can be seen to the fingerboard at the 11th and 16th frets. These appear to be very light glue residue, which is visible only under direct light and close scrutiny. These markings are not felt under the finger and do not impact the playability of the instrument.

Body: Overall excellent condition. Very light scratching to all aspects of the body is visible under direct light, as is common with high gloss finishes. This is most notable at the bass side of the bridge and the bass side waist of the rear face, consistent with playwear. Any other markings to the body are difficult to discern.
