Here for sale we have a Yamaha APX-10D Electro-Acoustic Guitar in Antique Sunburst finish. Yamaha's APX Series was first introduced in 1987 with the aim of making acoustic guitars much more usable in stage settings; reducing the feedback that was inherent at the time without having to use a microphone or endure a lengthy soundcheck. The guitars proved extremely popular, and their APX line soon became one of the best selling electro-acoustic guitars in the world.
Made in Taiwan in 1992, this guitar features a set-neck construction comprising a Spruce top, Flamed Sycamore back and sides, African Mahogany neck and 24 fret Rosewood fingerboard and matching bridge. Gold hardware is fitted, including Yamaha sealed tuning machines. A Yamaha Hexaphonic undersaddle piezo pickup is installed, along with an Acoustic Sensor Mic. These are wired to two outputs for stereo modes, with on-board controls for Stereo/Mono modes, master volume, bass, treble and mic level.
The African Mahogany neck plays fantastically well, with a profile which might be described as a very soft 'V' shape. This is a highly ergonomic shape which is comfortable for both chordal and melodic playing, and sadly is less common today amongst a sea of 'Low Oval' and 'C' shape necks. The gloss finish to the rear makes for smooth navigation of the 25.6" scale, and with the generous cutaway ensures that the full register of the instrument is easily accessible. The Rosewood fretboard is pleasant under the fingers, and with a nicely flat 14" radius is practical for a wide range of styles and techniques.
The acoustic voice of the Yamaha APX-10D is nicely balanced thanks to its small stature. Similar in size to an OM, the low end is unpronounced yet accurate whilst mids are punchy and clear. The Spruce and Sycamore construction provides a bright and sparkling treble response as well as a fast and snappy attack. This tone works equally as well as a solo instrument as it does blending into an ensemble or band. The Hexaphonic piezo pickup and Acoustic Sensor electronics that are installed are the main event, delivering the signature APX reliability and flexibility which we now expect from acoustic guitar pickups. Dual outputs and the stereo controls allow you to send either treble and bass strings to different outputs or alternating strings.
Please be aware that for international buyers import fees are not included in our postage and packaging cost, this only covers the cost of the guitar being sent to you. Import fees will be charged by Customs upon the guitar's arrival in the recipient country. Due to Brexit, this also applies to EU buyers. We advise checking the total import cost with Customs as this is not information we are able to accurately provide.
