Here for sale we have a Rickenbacker 330 electric guitar in Jetglo finish. Made in the USA in 1990, this guitar features a set-neck construction comprising a semi-hollow Maple body, 5-piece Maple/Walnut neck and 24 fret Rosewood fingerboard. Chrome hardware is fitted including the classic 'R' tailpiece, 6-saddle bridge and Schaller sealed tuning machines. The pickups installed are a pair of Rickenbacker hi-gain single-coils which are wired to a 3-way toggle switch, independent volume and tone controls and a blend knob for balancing the sound in the middle position.

The guitar is refreshing to play, its wide body giving something reassuring to hold onto while the double cutaway gives easy access to the entire fretboard, even up to the 24th fret. The frets on this particular instrument appear to have been replaced with larger than traditional, feeling somewhat like medium jumbo size. These pair well with the 10" fingerboard radius for great feeling chordal work and practicality for lead lines and bends, whilst the un-lacquered Rosewood fingerboard feels great under the fingers. The neck profile might be described as a chunky ‘C’ shape, and is substantial in the hand without being cumbersome, providing a smooth and responsive playing experience across the register.

Unplugged, the 330 has a bright, clear and resonant sound thanks to its semi-hollow Maple construction. This can be clearly heard when amplified, with an open and airy tone which is unique whilst remaining practical for a wide range of genres and playing styles. The single coil pickups provide all of the jangle that you would expect from a Rickenbacker, sounding clear with plenty of chime while still feeling full bodied and handling a surprising amount of gain. The 330 responds well to overdrive, feeling quite lively yet stable, due to its centre block. This guitar would be great for someone looking for a classic Rickenbacker sound with some playability upgrades and a genuine vintage vibe due to its 34 year age.

    Aesthetic Condition:

Headstock: Overall good condition. The top edge demonstrates notable scratching, chipping and wear of the finish revealing the wood beneath. This is most apparent to the treble side tip where the wood is exposed to the front and rear faces. Further indentation and light scratching is apparent to all aspects of the headstock. Notable finish checking is present, as is expected with an instrument of this age.

Neck: Overall good condition. Moderate chipping of the finish and indentation is found to the rear of the neck in the early register. These markings reveal the wood beneath and are lightly felt under the thumb in the playing position. Further less frequent chipping and indentation is apparent further up the neck. The fingerboard appears to have been sanded back to remove the finish, and demonstrates various tooling markings indicative of a re-fret. The 2nd fret demonstrates deep indentations from playwear which have not been removed during the re-fret process. The fret ends are well seated and smooth, and along with the excellent quality of the work indicates the refret was performed by a professional.

Body: Overall good condition. All aspects of the body demonstrate scratching, indentation, chipping of the finish and notable nitro checking. This is most notable to the centre of the rear face where notable buckle rash has dented the surrounding finish and revealed a large section of wood in the middle. The treble side rear edge shows consistent moderate chipping which exposes the wood. The bass side front edge of the lower bout shows finish wear which has revealed the wood. Other high contact areas show similar wear.

    Condition of Frets:

The frets demonstrate minimal signs of use. There is considerable material remaining for any fret work the new owner may wish to perform. There is evidence that a re-fret has taken place, with the new frets being taller than would be expected from Rickenbacker.

    Current Set Up:

Truss Rod: Fully functional. Truss rod tool (1/4" socket) not included.

Hardware: Fully functional with moderate signs of wear. The guitar has been fitted with a new bone nut and is missing the bridge cover. The pickguard and truss rod cover have been replaced with black parts by a previous owner. No original parts are included.

Structural: No concerns or issues to note.

Height of the string from the 12th Fret-1.5mm - Bass 2mm

Please be aware that the action on a guitar may move slightly in transit and this measurement is the current height.
