Here for sale we have a Martin D-41 Dreadnought acoustic guitar in Gloss Natural finish. Introduced in the late ‘60s, the D-41 shares the same Spruce & Rosewood composition of the D-28, but sports decoration similar to the D-45 such as Abalone Hexagon fingerboard inlays, Abalone and multi-stripe purfling and rosette.

Made in the USA in 1995, an all-solid dovetail construction is employed and comprises a Solid Spruce top that has aged with time, Solid Rosewood back and sides, Mahogany neck and 20 fret Ebony fingerboard with matching bridge. The body is double bound with luxurious abalone detailing, whilst the top is adorned with multi-stripe purfling, abalone and multi-stripe rosette and handsome tortoiseshell pickguard. The back features a hand-inlaid back strap, whilst the neck and headstock are also bound. A Bone saddle and Nut are fitted, as well as a set of Gold sealed Martin tuning machines.

The Mahogany  neck plays superbly well, with a profile which might be described as a 'C' shape. This encourages ergonomic thumb positioning in all registers and provides easy reach as well as smooth and responsive playability in all fingerboard positions. Akin to Martin's pre-war designs, a volute is also featured behind the nut. This is pleasant under the thumb in the open position, and produces an authentic historical character. The Ebony of the fingerboard is supremely luxurious under the fingers, which along with the binding and exclusive Abalone inlays adds a real sense of opulence to the playing experience. Its 16" radius is of course traditional for Martin, and ensures practicality for both chordal and melodic playing styles.

The voice of the Martin D-41 is rich and beautiful, and really lives up to the reputation that this iconic guitar commands. The Rosewood back and sides provide a silky smooth bass response that remains detailed and accurate across the dynamic range. The mids are punchy and clear, and add a warmth and clarity to the tone. The top end is sparkly and bright, adding a glistening quality to every note played on the instrument. The dynamic range of the Martin D-41 is truly impressive. Gentle playing is rewarded with a very tender and soft tone, ramping smoothly up to the rich, loud chord strumming sound that the Dreadnought is renowned for. A truly fantastic example of an iconic instrument.
