Here for sale we have an Ibanez RG560 Custom Flames electric guitar in Fire Flames Graphics finish. This particular model is an interesting relic from Ibanez's history. The model was only produced in 1987 in very limited numbers, and was one of the first models to feature the design of the now familiar 'RG' series. The original RG guitars were released under the Roadstar II series, having morphed into existence from this series and the Steve Vai JEM777. Indeed, 'RG' originally stood for 'Roadstar Guitar'. These instruments became the blueprint for the 'Super Strat' style that became ubiquitous in the ensuing years, and were the first to feature things like the pointy cutaways, Wizard neck profile and Edge Floyd Rose-style double-locking tremolo system.

Made in Japan, this guitar features a bolt-on construction comprising a Basswood body, Maple neck and 24 fret Rosewood fingerboard. Black hardware is fitted including an Edge double-locking tremolo system and Gotoh sealed tuning machines. The pickups in this particular example have been changed, with a DiMarzio Crunch Lab humbucker in the bridge, and Seymour Duncan single-coils in the neck and middle positions. These are wired to a 5-way blade switch and master volume & tone controls.

The Maple neck plays fantastically well. It's easy to see why the Wizard profile caught on so quickly; the super slim profile, which could perhaps be described as a 'D' shape encourages ergonomic thumb positioning in all registers and facilitates super-fast playing in a way that had not been seen before it was introduced. The sculpted neck heel and generous cutaways ensure that access to the top frets is completely unrestricted, whilst the 17" fingerboard radius provides a super flat and consistent playing surface right the way up the register. Paired with Jumbo frets, the playing experience is razor-sharp and precise in any fingerboard position.

The non-original pickups in this guitar are installed in an HSS configuration, with a DiMarzio Crunch Lab humbucker in the bridge and Seymour Duncan single-coils in the neck and middle positions. These deliver a wide range of tones, perfect for the contemporary musician who needs to remain as versatile as possible. The Crunch Lab in the bridge produces a powerful output which easily drives your amp into a saturated distortion tone for rhythm parts and riffs. The Seymour Duncan single-coils in the neck and middle positions offer plenty of power for overdriven and distorted lead tones, and can clean up quite nicely for the quieter sections of the set. A unique look for a guitar which has an important place in Ibanez's history.

Please be aware that for international buyers import fees are not included in our postage and packaging cost, this only covers the cost of the guitar being sent to you. Import fees will be charged by Customs upon the guitar's arrival in the recipient country. Due to Brexit, this also applies to EU buyers. We advise checking the total import cost with Customs as this is not information we are able to accurately provide.

    Aesthetic Condition:

Headstock: Overall very good condition. All aspects of the headstock display light to mild scratching and indentations, some of these have broken through the finish. The logo is worn towards the top of the headstock and at the letter ‘I’, slightly revealing the black finish below. The rear and sides of the headstock display discoloration, this is common with a guitar of this age.

Neck: Overall good condition. A small crack is present to the rear of the neck between the locking nut screws, this has been tested and presents no structural concerns. Moderate discoloration is present to the rear of the neck across the register, as is common with extensive use. Wear markings to the fingerboard can be seen across the register, as is common with regular past use. These can not be felt under the fingers in the playing position.

Body: Overall good condition. All aspects of the body display light to moderate scratching and indentations. The most notable indentations can be seen to the treble side of the rear face lower bout, where the wood is exposed. A previous owner has attempted to repair the finish. This is to an acceptable standard but the repair is still apparent. A similar but smaller repair is apparent between the bridge and bridge pickup on the front face. Both sides of the neck pocket display finish cracks which have been tested and present no structural concerns.

    Condition of Frets:

The frets demonstrate moderate signs of use, not affecting playability. Light Indentation is apparent in the early register with flattening of the crowns throughout. There is moderate material remaining for any future fret work the new owner may wish to perform.

Truss Rod: Fully functional. Truss rod tool (4mm hex) not included.

The originals are not included. Non original tremolo arm included.

Structural: No concerns or issues to note.
