Here for sale we have a Gibson J-45 Electro-Acoustic Guitar in Vintage Sunburst finish. Made in the USA in 2013, this guitar features a Sitka Spruce top with Mahogany back and sides, a Mahogany neck with a 20 fret Rosewood fingerboard and matching bridge. Featured on this guitar are a set of Grover tuning machines along with a Tusq nut and saddle, whilst an LR Baggs Element Undersaddle Active pickup system is employed with soundhole mounted controls for volume and tone.
The Mahogany neck sits comfortably in the hand, with the SlimTaper profile providing ergonomic thumb positioning in all registers allowing for easy navigation up and down the neck. The Rosewood fingerboard with rolled edges feels pleasant under the fingers and provides a smooth surface for the user to explore, along with the 12” radius making bending and vibrato techniques a breeze. The dreadnought design fills the arms, providing a dynamic and responsive playing experience, making the user feel the resonance that this guitar produces.
This guitar has a well-balanced and dynamic tone, producing a warm and rich sound, with a strong and clear midrange. The Sitka top and scalloped bracing contribute to the guitar's excellent projection and sustain, producing a bright and crisp high end that is well-articulated, whilst the Mahogany back and sides offer a warm and deep low end that make chords hum and chime. The LR Baggs Element Active pickup allows the instrument's voice to be captured organically, displaying the natural voice of this guitar beautifully through an amplifier. A perfect example of why the J-45 has been favoured by singer/songwriters for generations and continues to inspire.

Aesthetic Condition:
Headstock:
Overall very good condition. The rear top edge shows chipping of the finish to the centre and treble side corner which lightly exposes the wood. Light scuffing is also present at the top edge, along with a light lacquer crack between the head and headplate, not affecting the structure of the instrument. All aspects of the headstock show light to mild scratching, as is common with high gloss finishes. This is most notable to the centre of the front face.
Neck:
Overall very good condition. Two finish chips are present behind the 2nd and 3rd frets. These appear to have been drop-filled at some stage to a satisfactory standard. The chips are felt under the thumb in the playing position but do not impact the overall playability of the instrument. Light chipping of the clear coat is present to the centre rear behind fret 4, as well as to the bass side behind frets 10-12. Light scratching to the rear of the neck is visible under direct light, as is common with high gloss finishes.
Body:
Overall very good condition. Very light indentations which do not pierce the finish can be found around the sides of the instrument, most notably by the bass side of the neck heel and at the bass side of the lower bout. 'Blooming' of the nitro finish which has left a light cloudiness is present in high contact areas such as the bass side of the lower bout and at the treble side waist. Very light spotting of the finish is present at the treble side of the front face, likely where the finish has reacted with a spray of some kind. All aspects of the body demonstrate light to mild scratching, as is common with high gloss finishes. This is most notable to the centre of the rear face and at the treble side of the neck heel. The pickguard and treble side waist show milder scratching consistent with mild playwear.
Condition of Frets:
The frets show mild signs of use, not affecting playability. Light denting of the frets can be seen in the early register. There is light material remaining for any light fretwork the new owner may wish to perform.
Current Set Up:
Truss Rod: Fully functional. Truss rod tool not included.
Hardware: Fully functional with light signs of wear. The truss rod cover has split at the top hole. The cover remains secure.
Structural: No concerns or issues to note.
