Here for sale we have a Gibson Memphis ES-335 'Dot' semi-hollow electric guitar in Graphite Metallic finish. Made in the USA at Gibson's Memphis factory in 2018, this guitar features a semi-hollow set-neck construction comprising a Laminated Maple/Poplar/Maple body with a Maple centre block, Quartersawn Mahogany neck and 22 fret Rosewood fingerboard. Nickel hardware is fitted including an ABR-1 bridge and Stopbar tailpiece and Grover Rotomatic tuning machines. A pair of Gibson MTS II humbucking pickups are installed, and are wired to a 3-way toggle switch and independent volume & tone controls.

The Quartersawn Mahogany neck pays very well, with the Rounded 'C' profile providing a substantial but not cumbersome grip in all registers for a smooth, responsive and articulate playing experience across the register. Quartersawn timbers are highly resistant to warping, and are often selected for high-end or Custom Shop instruments. The Rosewood of the fingerboard is pleasantly tactile under the fingers, adding an extra sense of luxury to the playing experience. With its 12" radius, the fingerboard is both traditional and practical for a wide range of playing styles and techniques. The smooth lines of the ES-335 body are as comfortable and balanced in the arms as ever whilst offering enhanced access to the upper frets.

Amplified, the pair of Gibson MHS II humbucking pickups deliver thick and warm tones, with a vintage flavour and modern functionality. Gibson's MHS II is based on mid-'60s patent no. pickups, with matched coils, 42 gauge poly-coated wire and short AlNiCo V magnets. This produces a vintage warmth as well as the thick and full-bodied tones we all expect from Gibson. The neck is round and powerful for your lead and solo tones, whilst the bridge position is bright and snappy; perfect for rhythm parts and riffing. The semi-hollow construction produces a wide dynamic range and open, airy tone that is resistant to feedback due to the Maple centre block. A classic, well-loved model with some unique tweaks that make this particular example feel special.

    Aesthetic Condition:

Headstock: Overall excellent condition, a very small patch of nitro burn is apparent to the treble side front edge where the headstock would make contact with a hanger. Very light scratching to the front face is visible under direct light, as is common with high gloss finishes.

Neck: Overall very good condition, the fingerboard demonstrates tooling marks throughout the register. These can be difficult to discern against the natural grain of the fingerboard and cannot be felt under the string. A light scratch is present to the rear of the neck behind the 12th fret which does not pierce the finish. Very light ‘blooming’ or clouding of the finish to the rear of the neck is scattered inconsistently throughout the register and is difficult to discern against the metallic finish.

Body: Overall very good condition. The rear face demonstrates consistent scratching on the lower bout towards the bottom edge. Light scratching to the front face is present around the pickup selector, with a very light chip at the treble side F hole. Very light ‘blooming’ similar to the rear of the neck is present near the controls. The pickguard shows milder scratching consistent with playwear.

    Condition of Frets:

The frets demonstrate very light signs of use, not affecting playability. There is considerable material remaining for any future fret work the new owner may wish to perform.

    Current Set Up:

Truss Rod: Fully functional. Truss rod tool (5/16" socket - Gibson multi-tool) included.

Structural: No concerns or issues to note.

Height of the string from the 12th Fret-1.5mm - Bass 2mm
