Here for sale we have a Fender American Vintage '62 Stratocaster left handed electric guitar in the 3-Color Sunburst finish. Made in the USA in 1999, this guitar is one of the early examples of the American Vintage series after the U.S. Vintage series was revamped in 1998. Designed as a faithful recreation of the 1962 Stratocaster, a bolt-on construction is employed and comprises an Alder body, one-piece Maple neck and 21 fret Slab-Rosewood fingerboard. Nickel/Chrome hardware is fitted, including an American Vintage synchronized tremolo bridge and Fender/Gotoh vintage-style split-post tuning machines. A trio of Fender American Vintage Strat single-coil pickups are installed in the 3-ply Mint Green pickguard, and are wired to a 5-way blade switch, master volume, neck tone & middle tone controls.

The Maple neck plays superbly, with the 'C' profile accurately representing the feel of those original '60s instruments. Much slimmer than the '50s neck profile whilst retaining enough substance to inspire confidence in your grip when chord playing, the neck is highly playable in all registers and is suitable for any playing style or technique that you can throw at it. The slab of Rosewood used for the fingerboard is rich and dark in appearance, and feels supremely luxurious under the fingers. Its 7.25" radius and vintage-style frets ensure a period correct playing experience, which today feels quite unique and inspiring in the hands. The familiar lines of the Stratocaster body are as comfortable in the arms as ever, just as practical in either seated or standing positions.

The trio of American Vintage Strat single-coils installed in this guitar deliver authentic vintage-inspired tones thanks to their period accurate specification. Pole pieces are hand bevelled and staggered for a balanced output, whilst Alnico V magnets are employed to produce a bright, glassy tone. Even the vintage-correct cloth wiring is used for a truly authentic tone. The neck is warm and round, with all of the power needed to push your solos to the front of the mix. The middle is punchy and clear for those funky tones, whilst the bridge produces a searing output for bright and focussed rock rhythm tones. This is a fantastically authentic vintage-inspired piece that has aged very gracefully.

    Aesthetic Condition:

Headstock: Overall very good condition, a chip to the finish is apparent to the both sides of the nut shelf. Part of the F on the "Fender" logo has chipped, exposing the wood beneath. The top edge demonstrates chipping of the amber coat revealing the wood beneath.

Neck: Overall excellent condition, it is difficult to discern any markings to the neck and fingerboard.

Body: Overall very good condition, chipping of the finish is apparent surrounding the neck plate. The tip of the treble side horn demonstrates a finish repair, likely due to a strap button relocation. The repair is stable but has been carried out to an amateur standard. Light scratching to all aspects of the body is visible under direct light, as is common with high gloss finishes. This is most notable to the bass side edge of the lower bout, rear face.

    Condition of Frets:

The frets demonstrate very light signs of use, not affecting playability. There is considerable material remaining for any fret work the new owner may wish to perform.

    Current Set Up:

Truss Rod: Fully functional. Truss rod tool (flathead driver) not included.

Hardware: Fully functional with light signs of wear, most notably oxidation of the saddles. The pickguard is lifting slightly at the treble side waist. No back plate is included.

Structural: No concerns or issues to note.

Height of the string from the 12th Fret-1.5mm - Bass 2mm

    Strings on Guitar - 10-46

This guitar demonstrates mild fret noise which is only mildly apparent when amplified. This noise does not affect sustain of notes, nor does it affect bending the notes. The new owner may choose to raise the action to alleviate this.

    Fully functional.
