Here for sale we have a Fender American Vintage '62 Jaguar Electric Guitar in 3-Color Sunburst finish. Made in the USA in 2001, this guitar of course features a bolt-on construction comprising an Alder body, Maple neck and 20 fret Rosewood fingerboard. Chrome hardware is fitted including an adjusto-matic bridge with Fender string mute & floating tremolo tailpiece along with a set of vintage-style split-post tuning machines. A pair of Fender American/Pure Vintage Jaguar single-coil pickups are fitted, and are wired to a rhythm/lead circuit selector switch, rhythm circuit volume and tone thumbwheels, lead circuit volume and tone, pickup on/off switches, and a tone circuit switch.
The Maple neck plays beautifully. The Jaguar stands alone in Fender's line-up as their only short-scale instrument that was not designed as an affordable student model. The short scale certainly informs the playing experience, making for a neck that feels very easy to manoeuvre and making those long stretches easier to reach. The period-correct 7.25" radius and vintage frets ensure an authentic '60s playing experience, with the 'C' shape neck profile offering something substantial to grip whilst playing without feeling at all cumbersome. Whilst the controls are extensive, they are well set out for easy access whilst playing.
Amplified, the pair of Pure Vintage '62 Single-Coil Jaguar pickups deliver a bright and jangly tone in the lead circuit, with clean sounds ringing out with a sparkle and chime that make it clear why the Jaguar was adopted by surf players. The neck position is warmer, but still easily cuts through the mix. The rhythm circuit provides a darker tone from the neck pickup, adding an almost jazzy quality to your lead lines. Whilst unconventional in terms of switching, the Jaguar offers a seriously versatile set of tones that make it suitable for a wide range of genres. Indeed, the instrument has been seen in the hands of everyone from Johnny Marr to Kurt Cobain.
Please be aware that for international buyers import fees are not included in our postage and packaging cost, this only covers the cost of the guitar being sent to you. Import fees will be charged by Customs upon the guitar's arrival in the recipient country. Due to Brexit, this also applies to EU buyers. Aesthetic Condition:
Headstock: Overall very good condition. The top edges of the headstock demonstrate light to mild scuffing & indentation, most notably to the front edge of the tip. Light scratching and indentation which does not pierce the finish present to the front face. Some discoloration is apparent to the rear sides where the headstock would make contact with a hanger.
Neck: Overall very good condition. The rear of the neck demonstrates a moderate scratch piercing the finish behind the 3rd fret to the bass side of the profile. Further lighter scratching and indentation is apparent throughout the register, most consistently behind the early frets. This does not affect playability. The fingerboard demonstrates light playwear in the early register, somewhat difficult to discern from the natural grain.
Body: Overall very good condition. The front face demonstrates several moderate indentations to the lower bout, piercing the finish. Similar indentations can be identified to the bottom edges, most consistent on the treble side. The rear face demonstrates chipping of the finish towards the lower bout, as well as surrounding the neck plate, revealing the wood beneath. All aspects of the body demonstrate consistent light to mild scratching, visible only under direct lighting at certain angles. This is most notable at either side of the waist consistent with playwear.
Condition of Frets:
The frets demonstrate moderate signs of use, with some indentation in the early register and flattening of the crowns throughout. This does not affect playability. There is moderate material remaining for future fret work.
