Here for sale we have an Epiphone Prophecy SG Custom GX in Black Cherry finish. The Prophecy series was originally introduced in 2008, and was aimed at contemporary hard rock and metal players. The series has been one of Epiphone's most popular offerings ever since, and has received subsequent redesigns and special editions. 
 
Made in China in 2010, this guitar features a set-neck construction comprising a Mahogany body with Quilted Maple Veneer top, Mahogany neck and 24 fret Ebony fingerboard. Gold hardware is fitted including a T-O-M bridge and StopBar tailpiece and Grover Rotomatic tuning machines. A pair of passive humbucking pickups are installed, with a Gibson Dirty Fingers in the neck and Gibson Dirty Fingers Plus in the bridge. These are wired to a 3-way toggle switch, master volume and master tone, with a push/push coil split function on the volume control. 
 
The Mahogany neck plays very well, with a profile which might be described as a Slim 'D' shape. This provides a nicely flattened area to the centre rear which promotes ergonomic thumb positioning in all registers. Certainly on the slimmer side, the profile is well suited to the more technical player as it allows for easy reach for big stretches and fast articulate playing. The Ebony of the fingerboard is pleasant under the fingers, and in combination with the binding and blade inlays adds a sense of luxury to the playing experience. 
 
The pair of passive humbucking pickups installed in this guitar deliver thick and full-bodied tones, just as we expect from Gibson pickups. The Dirty Fingers pickups are an accurate replica of the famous originals that were introduced by Gibson in the '70s. Three powerful ceramic magnets are featured, along with over-wound coils to produce a massive output for saturated high gain sounds. The neck is round and powerful which works wonders for your lead and solo tones. the Dirty Fingers Plus in the bridge is hotter still, delivering a searing output for rock and metal rhythm tones and riffs.
