Here for sale we have an Epiphone Nighthawk Custom Reissue in HoneyBurst finish. The Gibson Nighthawk was originally introduced in 1993, and was designed to be the go-to instrument for any performance situation or playing style. It achieved this by combining features not often seen on Gibson guitars such as the 25.5" scale and single coil pickups in an HSH configuration. Unfortunately, it came out at a time when customers were more interested in traditional instruments, and the model was discontinued in 1999. Gibson reissued the Nighthawk in 2009, and Epiphone's came out in 2011.

Made in Indonesia in 2011, this guitar features a set-neck construction comprising a Mahogany body with Flame Maple top, Mahogany neck and 22 fret Rosewood fingerboard. Nickel hardware is fitted including a Nighthawk hardtail string-through-body bridge and Grover Rotomatic tuning machines. A trio of versatile pickups are installed in an HSH configuration, with a Slant NHT humbucker in the bridge, NSX single-coil in the middle and NHR Mini humbucker in the neck position. These are wired to a 5-way blade switch, master volume and master tone controls, with a push/pull coil split on the tone pot.

The Mahogany neck plays very well, with the SlimTaper profile encouraging ergonomic thumb positioning in all registers thanks to the nicely flattened area to the centre of the profile. The neck is certainly on the slimmer side, feeling practical for fast lead lines and solos. The 25.5" scale is an unusual feature for an Epiphone, and provides a unique feel thanks to the slightly firmer string tension and wider fret spacing. Along with the more traditional 12" fingerboard radius, the neck feels practical and highly playable across the register. The body is comfortable in the arms thanks to the belly carve, and at a nice low 6.8lbs is easy on the shoulders too.

Designed with tonal versatility in mind, the Nighthawk offers an absolute plethora of sounds. There are a full 10 different switching settings thanks to the 5-way selector and push/pull coil split. The controls are also nice and responsive to small adjustments, so you can achieve a seriously impressive range of sounds without even touching your amp or any pedals. There are thick and full-bodied tones from the mini humbucker in the neck position, searing rock rhythm sounds from the bridge humbucker and out of phase funkiness in positions 2 & 4. When engaging the coil split some quite convincing Strat-style tones can be found too. An instrument which fits sonically into almost any situation whilst standing out visually.
