Here for sale we have an Epiphone Joe Perry Les Paul Standard Plus in Yellow-Green Aged Tiger finish. Made in Korea in 2004, this guitar is based upon Joe's Custom Shop stage guitar, which was reportedly designed- or at least inspired by his wife. Gibson's Custom Shop then produced a pilot run of 25 instruments, followed by a production run of 500. The Epiphone version was available between 2004-2006, making even the Epiphone version a rare beast today. On top of it's striking looks and collectability, the instrument is highly regarded for its high quality. Produced in the Korean Un Sung plant and equipped with Gibson USA Burstbucker II & III pickups, it certainly feels & sounds a cut above most Epiphones.

Naturally, a set-neck construction is employed and comprises a Mahogany body with a 'Tiger Stripe' Flame Maple top, Mahogany neck and 22 fret Rosewood fingerboard. Chrome hardware is fitted including a TOM bridge, StopBar tailpiece & a set of Epiphone vintage-style tuning machines with Kluson 'Tulip' style buttons. A pair of Gibson USA Burstbucker pickups are installed, with a reverse polarity BB II in the neck and a BB III in the bridge. Wired to the standard Les Paul controls, the reverse polarity neck pickup creates a distinctive out of phase tone in the middle position.

The Mahogany neck plays very well, with the 'C' profile feeling rather substantial in the hand- certainly on the thicker side when compared to some of Epiphone's modern offerings. This adds a distinctive character to the instrument, which along with its unique look adds a vibe which is inspiring in the hands. The Rosewood  of the fingerboard is pleasant under the fingers, and with the traditional 12" radius is practical for a wide range of playing styles and techniques. The frets appear to be medium jumbo, making them feel great under the fingers for string bending & vibrato.

Amplified, the pair of Gibson USA Burstbucker II & III humbuckers deliver thick & full bodied tones, well suited to the bluesy rock riffing that we associate Perry with. There's plenty of dirty snarling sounds on offer, with powerful lead tones in the neck position & searing, saturated distortions from the bridge. The traditional control layout is as practical & versatile as ever, allowing you to tweak & tune your sounds whilst playing. The reverse polarity neck pickup produces a very distinctive out of phase tone in the middle position; buttery smooth without being too subtle. A rare & seriously cool instrument with fantastic looks, sounds, playability & build quality.
