Here for sale we have an Epiphone Coronet in Cherry finish. Originally released in 1958 by Gibson under the Epiphone brand, the Coronet was one of Epiphone's earliest solid body electric guitars, and was available until 1970 in a few different pickup configurations. Since then, the instrument has been reissued twice, during the 90's and more recently in 2020 thanks to its enduring popularity, having been seen in the hands of many a famous musician; from Pete Doherty to Ace Frehley.

This particular example was made in China in 2021, and features a set-neck construction comprising a Mahogany body, Mahogany neck and 22 fret Laurel fingerboard. Nickel hardware is fitted, including a 'Lightning Bar' wraparound bridge and 3-on-a Plate tuning machines with Ivoroid buttons. A single Epiphone P-90 PRO dog ear pickup is installed in the bridge position, and is wired to master volume and tone controls.

The Mahogany neck plays very well, with the Medium C profile filling the hand comfortably for a substantial and confidence-inspiring grip across the register. Certainly, the neck feels true to its late '50s roots and is much thicker than many modern profiles, yet manages to avoid being at all cumbersome. The gloss finish to the rear assists with smooth navigation up and down the neck, whilst the generous cutaways and heel design ensure that access to the upper frets is completely uninhibited.

The single Epiphone Dogear P-90 PRO pickup installed in the bridge position delivers a thick and full bodied sound, well suited to a wide range of genres and playing styles. Thicker than the sound of a single-coil but distinct from a humbucker, the P-90 manages to sound unique despite being a very popular pickup. The lows are rich and warm, whilst the biting top end will ensure that your playing will cut through the mix. The simple controls offer ample tonal options, making this no-frills instrument actually surprisingly versatile.
