Here for sale we have an Eastman D'Ambrosio Series DC'74 in Amber Natural Nitrocellulose finish. The D'Ambrosio series represents Eastman's foray into the world of USA made instruments. A collaboration with USA born master luthier Otto D'Ambrosio, these instruments make use of the fine rare tonewoods, sustainably sourced from the regeneration of Oregon's wild lands, and are inspired by the Californian landscape in which they are made. The designs centre around D'Ambrosio's innovative 'FullerTone' 2-bolt neck joint design, which makes use of a long tenon to boast three times as much contact between the neck and body. Otto and Eastman claim that this design allows the 'FullerTone' neck joint to rival the sustain and stability of a set-neck.
The 'FullerTone' bolt-on neck construction comprises a Premium Lightweight Swamp Ash body, Flat Sawn Oregon Roasted Flame Maple neck and 24 fret Madagascan Rosewood fingerboard. Nickel hardware is fitted, including a MannMade USA 2010-NR 6-point tremolo bridge and Gotoh SDS510-05M-XN HAP-M vintage-style locking tuning machines. A trio of Lollar pickups are installed, with Royal T single-coils in the neck and middle positions and a Lollartron humbucker in the bridge. These are wired to a 5-way blade switch, master volume, bridge tone and neck/middle tone controls.
The neck plays fantastically well. with the 'Medium Round' profile filling the hand comfortably for a substantial yet still articulate playing experience across the register. Living up to its 'Rounded' moniker, the profile might be described as a 'C' shape which offers ergonomic thumb positioning for comfortable fretting and easy reach for tricky chord voicings. The Madagascan Rosewood fingerboard feels supremely luxurious under the fingers, and displays a beautiful grain pattern. Along with the pearl dot inlays and hand rubbed 'Gun Metal Oil' neck finish a lavish playing experience that is suitable for a great many playing styles and techniques is assured.
The trio of Lollar pickups installed in this instrument deliver supremely clear and precise tones which pay homage to the Stratocaster whilst remaining distinctly unique. The warmth of the neck position works very well for lead lines, producing buttery smooth tones whilst retaining clarity and articulation. The middle position is a little brighter, perfect for funky chord voicings because it captures the attack of your picking hand beautifully. The Lollartron in the bridge position is based on '63 Gretsch Country Gentleman, and delivers punchy clarity for your rock rhythm parts. The pickup can handle plenty of gain without getting at all muddy, ensuring that all of the precision of your playing can be easily heard. A beautifully made and appointed instrument which is fantastically unique in both sonic and aesthetic qualities.
